This time of year always brings up memories of the holidays growing up. My mother LOVED the holidays and the big family get together's. We had our traditions like opening up one gift on Christmas Eve and being able to get up and open our stockings while waiting for mom and dad to get up and then there was the food. As we grow older and loved ones pass on and children grow up some people, like myself, lose those traditions because we no longer have the large family to celebrate with. But a special friend taught me that it is ok to let go of the old traditions and build new ones. Do you have old traditions that you have let go of and new traditions you have created? Do you have spiritual traditions for this time of year? One tradition I have been practicing for 20 years now is every New Year's Eve I light a sacred fire. What do I mean by that? I light a fire and give offerings back to Mother Earth and Universe. I bless the fire with Reiki energy and ask the fire to bring renewal. I then make two lists: one list of what I want to manifest for the new year and one list of what I am releasing in the old year and I throw those lists in the fire with Palo Santo. I then take my journal for the year and burn it, giving thanks to all the lessons the previous year taught me, good and difficult. I then sage out the old energy from my home. I close out the year by letting go and making room for new blessings to come. On January 1st I start a new journal and a new manifesting jar. I then go outside and welcome in the new year, the new energy. I open my windows and allow the new energy to refresh my home and burn Palo Santo. These traditions have become important to me for it reminds me not to hold on to the old stuff that no longer serves and to open myself up to the new. It brings me into alignment with my Higher Self. What are your spiritual traditions or practices for this time of year? No matter what traditions you practice, and I would love to hear some, I hope they all bring you many blessings! Happy Holidays Everyone! There will NOT be an e-news next Sunday! Sessions for Spiritual Counseling are held at my home office or by video chat. I do have cats and understand some people have allergies, if that is the case, we can meet at the Tannery Marketplace (they have offered me a space at an hourly rental.) My office hours will be Sunday, Monday, and Tuesdays from 10 - 6 PM. Scheduling is available online via my website. If you have additional questions about Spiritual Counseling/Guidance and if it is for you, please feel free to contact me via e-mail at spiritualpathwaysnh@gmail.com.
