My Word for 2026:
ALIGNED

I've been thinking a lot about alignment lately.

Not the woo-woo kind (though I'm not mad at that either). The real kind. The kind that shows up in your business when you're honest about what's working — and what's not.

This year taught me something I already knew but needed to learn again:

Not every client is your client.

I took on a client earlier this year that I knew wasn't the right fit. The red flags were there from the start. But I said yes anyway — because the revenue looked good, because I thought I could make it work, because I didn't trust my gut.

We were never aligned. Not on expectations. Not on communication. Not on vision. And eventually, it ended exactly how I should've known it would.

That lesson cost me time, energy, and peace.
So going into 2026, my word is aligned.

Here's what that looks like for me:

Aligned team. I let go of VAs who weren't executing at the level I needed. Not because they were bad people — but because we weren't aligned on how I work. I need people who can stay 5 days ahead, not 5 minutes behind. So I built a tighter team that actually moves with me.

Aligned offers. I'm launching things that feel right — not just things that sound good. Magnolia Content Minis. First Fridays. Content & Coworking Mondays. These aren't random ideas. They're intentional. They're what Magnolia is supposed to be becoming.

Aligned community. I want to be in rooms with people who are building something. I want to create rooms like that for others. That's what First Fridays is about — gathering people who are aligned in how they show up, how they create, how they support each other.

Aligned clients. I'm not chasing every opportunity anymore. If it doesn't feel right, I'm trusting that. Because the wrong yes costs more than the right no ever will.
Alignment isn't about perfection. It's about honesty.
It's about being real with yourself about what fits
and having the courage to let go of what doesn't.

So if you're heading into 2026 wondering what needs to shift, maybe start there.
What's aligned? What's not?

And what are you going to do about it?
Here's to a year of building with intention.

creatively yours,
Dana
