The Arcadian Gallery is pleased to announce three competitions in 2026, two of which are brand new. The first will be the Appalachian Nature Art & Photography Competition, which will feature a show at the Gallery in May. The second is an International Nature Photography Competition that will show in the Gallery starting in September and will run through mid-October. Our last competition show will be a repeat of 2025's successful American Wildlife Art Show. Stay tuned for details on these competitions, including calls for entries and entry submission deadlines. |

Interested in sharpening your animal drawing skills? Drawing classes at The Arcadian Gallery are a great way to do that. In our new “How to Draw Animals” series, you'll start with human-like animals, then proceed to dogs, cats, horses, and more exotic animals. All of this will be under the instructive eye of Arcadian Gallery Director Christopher Sloan, who has been teaching animal anatomy at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for over a decade. The fee for each class is $30. Bring your own supplies. Supplies should include pencils, an eraser, paper, and tracing paper. Digital drawing on a device like an ipad is welcome. For more information or to reserve a spot, call 240-916-8840. |

NEW ARTISTS at the GALLERY! |
We're opening the New Year with art from artists that we met last year through the American Wildlife Art Competition. These are, from left to right, “Redtail” by Susan James, “Love" by Akiko Watanabe, and “Nuts” by Megan Zagorski. Come to the Arcadian Gallery Thursday to Saturday from 2 pm to 8 pm to see these pieces and other beautiful artwork they've created. |

LIFE DRAWING AT THE ARCADIAN |
In January, the Arcadian Gallery will begin hosting life drawing sessions. These will be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. The first session will be a morning session and the second will be an evening session. There is no instruction. Bring your own supplies. Tables and chairs will be provided. Space is limited. Contact Greg Malloy by text at 301-268-7109 if you are interested. |
The sessions will be on Tuesday, January 6, 9 am to Noon and Tuesday, January 20, 7 pm-10 pm. |
The Arcadian Gallery is lucky to have a sister business, the Arcadian Lounge, which specializes in imported wine, so what could be more natural than to offer Paint & Sip events at the Gallery? If you are interested in social painting or drawing, please consider joining us. We'll have a challenging still life set up for this first session. All you need to do is bring your own supplies. This is an open studio event where assistance is available, but there is no formal instruction. The fee is $20 fee. Wine is extra. Space is limited, so please call 240-916-8840 to make a reservation. |
