Hey First name / friends,

And just like that, another year … poof. The faster they move the better they are, and this one was full speed.

There were beautiful trips, new friends, long-standing industry relationships deepened, plenty of family time, and hard work stretches mixed with moments of rest.

For this final Travel Tuesday of the year, we’re doing what the season calls for – looking back, and looking ahead.

Below you’ll find a short round-up of travel bits worth knowing, a new blog to tuck away for your next New York visit (plus my New Yorkers), hotel openings to keep an eye on for 2026, and a look at where you went this year.

Thank you for traveling alongside me this year, whether that meant planning together or reading along.

Wishing you a bright entry into 2026. Let’s make it a good one.

Big hugs,
🖤 Katy

TRAVEL NEWS BITS
Pittsburgh Airport Gets a Glow-Up Pittsburgh International Airport just unveiled its long-awaited new terminal, and it’s a legitimate improvement. Brighter, calmer, more intuitive, with better local food and design touches. I don't wish for connections, but wouldn't mind if I had to have one here. Take a look.

More Routes for 2026 Airlines announcing a wave of new routes for 2026. Seoul keeps popping up, which many of you have been asking about, along with easier access to smaller European cities, parts of the Caribbean, Hong Kong, and West Asia. See what’s coming here and here.

Norway’s Panoramic Northern Lights Train You know I love trains so I am excited about this one. Norway launched the world’s first panoramic night train designed specifically for northern lights viewing. Floor-to-ceiling windows, overnight routing, and a strong sustainability angle. It’s slow travel and a very Norwegian solution. Check it out.

AI Travel Tools vs. Human Advisors I use AI everyday. But not to create itineraries. Bloomberg makes the case that tools from ChatGPT, Expedia, and Kayak won’t replace travel advisors anytime soon. Instead, they’re changing how planning happens behind the scenes. A realistic take that aligns with what I see every day. Worth the read.

A Very Good Little Lanzarote Guide I’ve been talking about Lanzarote for a while, and this guide from CNT does a nice job explaining why. Volcanic landscapes, low-key towns, serious architecture culture, and a pace that works year-round. If you’ve been curious but unsure, have a read.
