Hi there, This isn’t a story about flawless estate planning. It’s a story about showing up. Today, I’m re-sharing the most listened-to episode of 2025, one I recorded mostly with my dad, as well as my brother and my daughter. My brother is the oldest of my parents’ three children, and he has Down syndrome. When I first released this episode, I didn’t set out to create something “popular.” I wanted to offer an honest snapshot of what it looks like to raise a child with special needs over a lifetime—when resources are limited, systems don’t always work the way they should, and worry never fully goes away. What surprised me was how many people reached out to say, “This episode made me cry in a good way.” |

In large part, I think this episode resonated because it models a kind of legacy we don’t talk about enough. It’s not about financial success or perfect planning. It’s about advocacy, adaptability, and showing up again and again. In this conversation, you’ll hear about early uncertainty, fighting for inclusion in schools and communities, planning for independence, and learning to accept that some concerns never disappear. You’ll also hear moments of humor, tenderness, and pride because those exist right alongside the hard parts. It’s worth a listen (or a re-listen) if you’ve ever wondered what legacy really means, beyond documents and dollars. Not as something you leave behind someday, but as something you build quietly over years, through decisions most people never see. |

If this episode has you thinking about the people who rely on you, and whether your family would actually have what they need in a crisis— The Death Readiness Playbook was created for exactly that moment. It helps you organize information, make decisions, and communicate clearly, even when life (and family) is complicated. The digital version is just $27. |
