Hello First name,
It's that time! 2026 is a deeply layered pace change. So many new things will jut up from the sediment of the last 280 years over the next 12 months. They will spring up burdened, and yet their stuntedness and haste will still be incredibly worth their beginning.
What action was ever effective before it was tried in practice? There is a rugged setting out, burdened with the doubt that we are all somehow subject to something shoddy. A gig that needs to be up. What are the odds that our young tender shoots will start off at the correct developmental moment? Not great. If there is a constant over the next two years, it's that no one tends to be at their best when planning for unknown circumstances. It's an old man hacking a fresh path, slow moving, needing to use an unpracticed haste. The primitive skills guy who has mostly grown accustomed to his hot showers and having time to prepare for each outing thrust suddenly into the woods. Who thrives in the rubble of their heaviest mistakes?
Not the soldiers. Not our disabled, aging, and ill bodies. Saturn and Neptune in Pisces brought us to this altered place, where we've pushed squelching clay and mud into the gaps of our personal buoys. We've been made so very aware of the leaden weight of all that is not sacred that we choose to keep onboard with us.
All of us must bear up under the weight of the profane inside of the ordinary. Saturn in Pisces has allowed the sea floor to change beneath us and Neptune keeps making that sea bed porous - not only easy to push through but suddenly so rotten, dangerously poisonous. Did you know that tomb raiders stole mummified cats in the 19th century, but then ground them up and sold them as supplements to be eaten? That anthropologists now mourn that they burned the ancient Egyptian linen wrappings without learning what they could teach us about fiber technology? What about the history we might have learned from undisturbed beds of anaerobic fossil if we weren't burning up oil? Consumption is change. Waste is erasure. The great etch-a-sketch has been shaking but Jupiter has come to remind us of what is still alive right now. We mourn, and yet we tend to the living.
The unreadiness is gaping. Our current structures are unready because the marrow in the legs of our most foundational contracts and traditions has been sucked out. But the unreadiness is not just against the good. We're all scavengers now, rearranging the resources of the last era each in our own ways. As we step into a new calendar year, the weather is more aligned with a molding garden of outdoor cannabis mother plants than with the feeding and nourishment of the garden beds that wait to be tended next year. After February though, the scorching sun will dry this soggy drizzle and the heat will become problematic. We must slough off what festers now, and constantly reach for as much connection and steadiness as we can co-create with each one other. There are new sprigs to tend to.
I believe in us. And you should too.
