So many New Year’s resolutions don’t last because they’re rooted in urgency—quick changes, push harder, or fix something. That kind of pressure often stresses the nervous system rather than supports it. Instead try to…
Keep one thing:
A habit, relationship, or practice that genuinely supports you and helps you feel more connected to yourself. Lean into what’s already working.
Let go of one thing:
A pattern, belief, or expectation that no longer serves you—especially one that consistently dysregulates your nervous system.
Bring in one thing: Something small, embodied, and consistent that brings joy or ease into your daily life.
Start where you are, and stretch not stress your nervous system.

Before you begin, give yourself permission to settle first.
The holidays can be activating for the nervous system, even when they’re joyful. Instead of rushing into change, consider giving yourself a week or two to return to your regular rhythm—sleep, meals, movement, and quiet moments that help your system stabilize. This exercise is most meaningful when you approach it from a regulated place, so you’re honoring your authentic self rather than responding from stress or pressure.
It’s also worth remembering that the astrological new year doesn’t begin until late February, with the start of Aries season. There’s no need to force clarity or decisions in January. This is a season for gentle reflection, integration, and listening.
Start where you are. Move at a pace your nervous system can trust. When you stretch from safety—not stress—change becomes sustainable and aligned.
If you’d like support as you reconnect with your nervous system, you can download my FREE Daily Nervous System Check-In below. It’s a simple way to build awareness of when you’re in a more parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) state and when your system is more activated throughout the day—so you can meet yourself with more compassion and choice.
