January has that weird energy where I am equal parts crazy motivated at work, and committed to riding my horse more and chilling out.
One minute it’s strict schedules, endless to do lists, and ambitious riding plans… the next it’s “I’ll deal with that later” while staring at a bottle of wine (even though I just committed to Dry January 5 minutes ago.)
So let’s talk resolutions, specifically, the kind that don’t vanish by February.
(…or sooner, if we’re being honest here)
Working out four times a week? Not gonna happen.
The travel resolutions below? Much easier to keep, I promise.
RESOLUTION 02.
“I Will Stop Treating My PTO Like a Collectible”
Those vacation days are meant to be used, not hoarded. A little planning goes a long way when you line trips up with federal holidays, long weekends, or school breaks. More time away without burning it all at once?
I wrote a post about hacking your PTO, let me know if I need to resend so you can print it out as a reminder.
RESOLUTION 03.
"I Will Not Use AI to Book Expensive Vacations"
Helpful for inspiration? Sure (OK, maybe). Reliable for routing, pacing, and real-world logistical drama? Absolutely not.
This year’s resolution is fewer algorithm itineraries based on
Instagram and Trip Advisor and more trips that actually make sense once you land. And will answer the phone when there is a problem.
RESOLUTION 04.
“I Will Build in Breathing Room”
No more trips that feel like a competitive sport.
Slower mornings, fewer hotel swaps, and at least one day with nothing structured on the agenda.
And to my hit the ground running clients, I do applaud your energy!
And one more bonus resolution:
“I Will Let a Professional Handle the Logistics.”
This is the year of enjoying the trip, not micromanaging it.
(Unless you like to do this, in which case go for it, and let me know if you want a job!)
