Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

January 4, 2026

Dear First name / friend,
Hello and welcome back to the Weekend Update—my first since mid-December. I hope you had a fun holiday stretch, with time to connect with and enjoy the people you love.

We had a great Christmas with all three boys home for ten days. There were lots of meals out, and each of them cooked one night as part of our Christmas-week “cook-off,” which we declared a three-way tie to keep the peace 😉. We did a few touristy things at home (including a visit to The Elms), and binge-watched Land Man—psyched for last three episodes to drop.

There were lots of laughs and family bloopers, including one unnamed member presenting a fully wrapped gift (to me)…but the actual gift had been inadvertently left out of the box. Not something that will be lived down anytime soon 😉🤪

I also read Theo of Golden over the break and loved it—highly recommend if you’re looking for something uplifting, positive, and well-written.

And I’m starting the year trying something new: Mahjong. I’m taking a lesson with friends on Wednesday. I played a few times back in 2020 and didn’t love it—in fact, I think I used the term “never again”—but I’ve decided to give it another try…hoping for better results. I know many of you play, so I’ll keep you posted!

That’s the latest on the home front. Now for what’s happening at B.Styled—including my decision to pause SHOPPING and inviting you to join me starting tomorrow. And Day 1 of the Winter Style System starts again tomorrow too…perfect timing!

And as for New Year’s resolutions, here’s mine: Carpe Diem and use the good stuff. xo, Beth

A Different Kind of January Reset
I'm hosting a Free January No-Shopping Reset, starting tomorrow, January 5, as a way to press pause before adding anything new.

This isn’t a no-buy challenge with a beginning and an end — because that doesn’t really address the issue.

It’s a short reset designed to interrupt old patterns and encourage more deliberate choices, especially when it comes to shopping.

During the reset, you’ll receive simple daily prompts focused on:

👉🏼 Noticing impulse buying before it happens
👉🏼 Using what you already own — starting with your closet
👉🏼 Slowing the cycle of buying, organizing, and buying again
👉🏼 Getting through January without creating more clutter to deal with later

There’s nothing you need to prep, purchase, or overhaul.
You don’t need a perfect closet or a clean slate to start — you just start where you are.

If January usually sends you into fix-it mode — or if you’re tired of spending money on things that don’t actually change your day-to-day — this reset gives you another option.

You can join the Free January No-Shopping Reset using the link below.

And yes… we’re still getting dressed.

Winter Style System: A Fresh Start (Without Starting Over)

Winter Style System: A Fresh Start (Without Starting Over)

Day 1 of the Winter Style System outfit emails also starts up again tomorrow — and honestly, the timing couldn’t be better.

Winter is when getting dressed tends to slip first.
Cold mornings. Short days. Less motivation.
And suddenly we’re rotating the same two “safe” outfits… or staying in “loungewear” - just because.

This is exactly why the #justgetdressed habit matters so much.

Not to look fancy.
Not to impress anyone.
But because how you get dressed sets the tone for your day — especially during the long stretch of winter.

The Winter Style System removes the friction:
👉🏼 You don’t have to figure it out
👉🏼 You don’t have to scroll or shop
👉🏼 You don’t have to overthink

You open the email, follow the prompt, and get dressed. That’s it.

And here’s where it pairs perfectly with the January No-Shop Reset, which also starts tomorrow.

For the next stretch, we’re focusing on:
👉🏼 Using what you already own
👉🏼 Repeating outfits without guilt - and/or wearing those items you've been ignoring
👉🏼 Styling familiar pieces in fresh, current ways
👉🏼 Proving (again) that great outfits don’t require new purchases

No shopping needed.

Just accountability, intention, and a simple daily nudge to stop the shopping - -  and #justgetdressed - on purpose.

If winter is when you tend to lose momentum and wait for “later” to feel put-together again — this is your reset.
One outfit at a time.

Let’s start tomorrow. 😘

That's it for today!
Have a great week ahead, and remember to #justgetdressed. ✅👍🏼
