2025 RECAP
A year in review
Hauʻoli makahiki hou First name / friend,

We wanted to say mahalo one more time for an incredible 2025. We couldn't do the work we do without our volunteers, donors, and supporters. In this newsletter, we'll look back on all that we accomplished together last year through the 828 group and Adopt-a-Site cleanups we conducted.

rubbish collection
We reached the milestone of collecting 1 million pounds of rubbish since our founding! In 2025 alone we collected 46,541 pounds of trash, recycling, nails, marine debris, and lead weights.

INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL
We've cleared nearly 265,000 square feet of invasive species across our various cleanup sites this year. It's a core part of work to ensure we make space for native plants. If you haven't tried it yet, add “using the Puller Bear” to your New Year's resolutions list.

Native plant maintenace
We added 576 square feet of native plantings. Native Hawaiian plants help prevent erosion, stabilize soil, and protect our waters and coral from toxic runoff. They also add to the beauty of our islands and help to sustainabily restore native ecosystems.

stewardship in action
7,221 participants joined us this year dedicating 1,504 hours of their time working towards our mission of educating and empowering the community in ways to sustainably restore Hawaiʻi’s native ecosystems and neighborhood spaces, through decentralized cleanups and environmental stewardship.

We can't wait to see what we can achieve in 2026!

Mahalo,

808 Cleanups Team
