Hello, my vibrant, beautiful sunflowers.

I'm back home now from tour, happily working away on a second draft of something interesting that I'm not allowed to talk too much about yet, and still reeling from how incredible the last month was.

The Wild Card hit #2 on Amazon.com and #73 on the USA Today Bestsellers List, but beyond that, I got to meet so many lovely readers, authors, and booksellers! I can't tell you how fun and cup-filling it is to hang out in a room full of wonderful people like yourselves and talk about books.

I met and hugged Chloe Quinn, my long-time cover illustrator, crumbled under Lyla Sage's charm (cough interrogation) about my next book, told Katherine of Grand Gesture in Portland how much I admire her, and snacked on Dunkaroos that hilarious readers brought me. It felt like I got to experience all the things that make the romance community so special. Thank you all so much for coming out and spending time with me. When I agreed to do a tour, I wasn't sure about how it would go. Lots of flights, lots of travel, and for a nervous little introvert like myself, I was worried about being able to make it fun for readers. I think it's safe to say, it was all worth it, and I can't wait to do it again.

I'm still chuckling to myself at how the room GASPED when I told one audience what the title of my next book is (it's a secret for now!). And yes, I got my Dyson working again!
I also got to spend SO much time with Lauren, my assistant! I already knew she was funny, positive, and organized, but got to see that happen in real time. She kept me on schedule, introduced me to Erewhon (never paid so much for strawberries in my life), and made this hilarious sticker of me from a photo on the tour. She keeps using it in our texts and it makes me laugh every time. Thank you, Lauren, for everything you do for me!! Couldn't have done the tour without you.

If you've been watching the Olympics, I'm sure you've heard about Alysa Liu, the 20 year old American who won gold in figure skating. I read that she quit figure skating a couple years ago, and when she decided to come back, it was on her terms. No more dieting. She chooses the music and what to wear. She gets to do things the way she wants.

Watching her skate was mesmerizing, not just because her dress is gorgeous (Georgia would love it) or the disco music was fun and uplifting, but because… look at her smile. Look at her joy! Look at the pride she feels. She is so beautiful, and it has nothing to do with how she looks. She looked straight into the camera after she was done and yelled “THAT'S WHAT I'M F***ING TALKING ABOUT” and when I see women feeling proud of who they are and what they've done, I feel hope. Women are so amazing.

Okay I don't know why the poster looks like a thriller movie but the documentary Queen of Chess is SO GOOD! It's like the Queen's Gambit but real life! So uplifting and exciting. A very fun watch.

I am obsessed with this eyeshadow from Urban Decay. It's glittery, but not overwhelmingly. It's pretty and joyful and fun and I don't care if I'm in my late-thirties, I'm going to wear sparkly eyeshadow, damn it.

I've only been using this for a week but it's already firmly in my favourites category. Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream was recommended to me by friend, author, and fellow skincare enthusiastic Penn Cole. I love that it's quite thick and moisturizing, fragrance free, that it comes in a tube (I don't like dipping my fingers in jars!!), and it's really affordable!

Keep reading for an except of this new release by Meg Riley!!

“I think we should get married,” he blurts, as if he’s been working up the courage to say it the whole way over here and now the words have come spilling out with no strategy or tact.
I blink at him a few times, trying to comprehend what he’s said. Jett Landry… wants to get married… to me. The world’s hottest professional skier, and the man every woman wants. The man who never even dates anyone.
“You said you need a husband, so marry me,” he says when I don’t respond.
“Jett, what are you talking about?” I ask, incredulous.
“I’m saying we fake a marriage, Pops,” Jett answers, like it’s clear as day, and he shouldn’t even have to be explaining it. “People do it all the time, right? Like for immigration and stuff.”
“I think that’s more common in the movies, or in romance novels, not real life,” I roll my eyes. “You don’t want to get married. Not even if it’s fake. You’d be tied down, and everyone knows you don’t like to get tied down.”
Even if he did, I’m not Jett’s type, and I’ll never be his type. Jett and I would be a terrible match, even in a fabricated scenario.
He’s self-assured, which is a nice way of saying he’s arrogant.
I saw him at the skijoring competition, celebrating his victory. I saw how the women fawned over him. You hear a lot from behind the counter serving coffee.
I even caught a snippet of his conversation with the man I assume to be his manager or coach. Whoever he was, he didn’t seem too impressed with Jett’s behaviour. Yet, Jett spoke and carried himself as if nothing could touch him.
Whatever soft, vulnerable side of Jett I saw at Grady’s is gone. So why he thinks I would be believable as his wife is beyond me.
Jett shrugs, and his eyes dart off to the side, like I’ve struck a sensitive spot.
“Turns out, settling down might have its perks.”
I cock my head, my eyebrows twitching together.
“Why?” I ask, my curiosity getting the better of me. I’m not going to agree to anything yet, but I’m interested in understanding his motive.
Jett shrugs and shoves his hands into the kangaroo pocket of his hoody.
“My sponsors are threatening to pull my funding for World’s because of the scandal,” he admits. “It might be a Hail Mary, and I don’t know if it would even work, but maybe if I have a stable relationship and can fix up my reputation, they might be willing to back me.”
My mouth twists to one side, considering.
“I don’t know.”
“You won’t think about it?” He asks, looking at me with a pleading expression.
Dating in general already makes my palms sweat, and the thought of marrying Jett is so far out of my comfort zone, it’s in another realm. Even faking a relationship with Jett would be trial by fire.
