I consider Lord Krishna, the teacher of The Bhagavad Gita, one of the oldest yogic philosophies, as the ultimate embodiment of patience. For the same reason, he is also the ultimate of yogis. His story, more mythological than real sometimes it seems, is indeed a study on patience. From birth to death he handled every experience with a smile on his face and a commitment to right action. He was born into a world where he was ordered to be killed at sight by his uncle. His childhood was a fearful tragedy of death at every corner.
Did he live and hide in fear? Absolutely not. He lived his life fully facing the challenges with courage and brought love, joy and harmony to the people in his world. Through his young adult life into adulthood, there were instances where he was insulted and scorned, often called a liar.
Did he live in anger? Absolutely not. His actions revealed the strength of his character and the truth of who he was. Toward the end of his life, long after becoming a great (great-great?) grandfather, at the ripe old age of 125 (some say !!!), he watched his entire family fight each other to death. He becomes the sole survivor until he gets shot by a poisonous arrow!
Does he die of sadness, unfulfilled desires and lost attachments? Absolutely not. He teaches the lessons of yoga- the ultimate guide to freedom- and leaves the world with a smile. If someone could embody patience, it is Lord Krishna. There are a handful of such souls - Jesus Christ, Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Ramana Maharshi, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa - who are great masters of Patience. Their life is inspiring and one needs to stay motivated on this path of yoga; you see, cultivating patience is not for the faint of heart. It is the ultimate of yogic tests.
Gratitude to Lord Krishna, for being an inspiration as long as I can remember.
So much gratitude♥️
