Labnext & DDX: Master Your Case Workflows for a Successful 2026!

Happy New Year! We are excited to start 2026 by highlighting powerful features in Labnext and DDX designed to streamline your production and keep your practice partners informed.
Streamlining "On Hold" and "Try-In" Functionality

Cases that are not progressing through production—such as those requiring a shade, a new impression, or a try-in—are classified as On Hold. To help you manage these effectively, we’ve enhanced visibility and tracking.
At-a-Glance Tracking:
Use the Cases On Hold widget on your portal page and the dedicated On Hold case list to manage cases in real time.

Three Ways to Flag a Try-In:
1. Select the Try In icon during initial case entry.
2. Choose Mark as Try In from the Actions menu on any existing case.
3. Automation: Labnext/DDX can automatically flag a case if the specific procedure typically requires a try-in.

Work Tickets:
You can now include a "Try-In" element directly on your Labnext work tickets to clearly signal requirements to the lab floor.

Managing the Try-In Workflow

When you are ready to send a case to the doctor, select Send for Try In from the Actions menu. This automatically places the case "On Hold" and makes it visible in the portal widget.

Billing Options for Try-Ins:

Invoice & Start New:
Select Close/Invoice Case and check Related Case to bill for work completed and automatically initiate a new case.

Keep Original Case Number:
Clone the case from the actions menu; invoice the cloned case while keeping the original case number active for continued work.

Enhanced Case Approvals & Proposals

We have integrated Case Approvals directly into the Labnext/DDX workflow, allowing you to manage back-and-forth communication regarding designs or resolutions within your software. While keeping the original case number active for continued work.
Setup and Configuration:

1. On Hold Types: Create specific "On Hold" types and enable the Proposal Workflow for them.

2. Define Proposals: Set up "Account Proposals" to represent different stages of the conversation (e.g., "New Proposal," "Review Updated Proposal," or "Call Customer Service")

How the Workflow Works

Initiation:
Place the case "On Hold" in Labnext using the appropriate Proposal type.

Practice Interaction:
When the practice logs into DDX, they will see the case is On Hold. Upon opening it, they are prompted to Accept or Request a Modification.

Modifications:
If a modification is requested, the practice must enter detailed notes.

Status Tracking:
Look for a "-#" next to the Labnext case status; this number indicates how many times the practice has requested modifications for that specific case.
