Here is the Scoop on Antioxidants!
You've heard the word, you know they're good for your skin, and you've probably even heard that they're in the some of the food that you eat (all true!) So, what on earth are antioxidants and how do you make them work for you?
Antioxidants are ingredients that block free radical damage. The free radicals that come from pollution, sun, blue light, stress etc are blocked by the antioxidant and unable to break down collagen and cause fine lines/wrinkles/signs of aging. For this reason, antioxidants are one of the best anti-aging ingredients that we have to use.
There are many different antioxidants out there, but Vitamin C is the most popular for a few reasons. It is very effective at blocking free radical damage (to keep your collagen intact and your skin glowing & supple), it's more stable than some other antioxidants, and Vitamin C has properties (such as evening out skin tone!) that make it super effective in creating healthy, beautiful-looking skin.
Traditionally, antioxidants were applied to the skin every morning and they had a noticeable scent. There are still a few that have a slight scent (looking at you, CE Ferulic - even though it's a fantastic product that we recommend often, one of the top sellers ever, and we love it so much that we linked it by clicking here), but for the most part, antioxidants are now beautiful formulations and there are even some that do their best work overnight, while you sleep.
