Croatia should be on everyone's radar! I can’t say I am surprised, we adored our sailing trip in September 2023… Croatia is stunning. Croatia is known for its crystal-clear waters and beautiful islands, but it’s also home to ancient cities, waterfalls, and rolling hills dotted with vineyards that rival Tuscany. If nature, history, and culture don’t pique your interest, perhaps its status as one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones will! From the historic streets of Split and Dubrovnik to the many islands of the Dalmation Coast, this country is packed with experiences for every type of traveler. Croatia can also be easily combined with Slovenia and Montenegro, which is great if you want to start in Venice and journey along the coast. If you're wondering when to visit... Croatia’s mild Mediterranean climate makes it an appealing destination all year, but here are some key tips to help you plan the best time for your trip: High Season: The peak travel season runs from June to early September, when the weather is sunny, and the Adriatic Sea is warm. This is perfect for beach lovers, but it also means popular cities like Dubrovnik and Split will be very crowded. Spring : Spring (April to June) is an ideal time to explore the stunning landscapes of Croatia, especially in Krka National Park, where waterfalls are at their fullest, and blooming flowers bring the scenery to life. It’s also a great time for hiking and outdoor activities, with comfortable temperatures and fewer crowds. Fall: Autumn (late September to November) is not to be missed, especially for food and wine lovers! Plan your trip in October for the Truffle Days in Istria, where you can experience truffle hunting, tastings, and local cuisine. As you might know, I am all into truffle hunting. The vibrant fall foliage in Plitvice Lakes National Park also creates a breathtaking backdrop for hiking and exploring. |

Walk the Historic City Walls: Dubrovnik’s city walls are one of the most iconic and well-preserved fortifications in Europe, offering stunning panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the red-roofed Old Town. A walk (which is a heck of a workout) along these ancient walls reveals hidden fortresses, towers, and scenic overlooks. But go early to avoid the midday crowds. Island-Hopping from the Old Port: Dubrovnik’s Old Port is the gateway to hundreds of islands just off the coast. Never out of sight of land, island hopping by private yacht is a great way to explore quaint villages, fantastic food, and each islands personality Local Cuisine in a Historic Setting: Dubrovnik’s culinary scene is not to be missed, and what better way to experience it than by dining in a centuries-old building? From fresh seafood caught that day to traditional Dalmatian dishes, the food here is excellent. |
