ORELAND WEEKLY BUILDING UPDATE
1/30/26

Bridge Family,

We’re grateful to begin sharing weekly updates on the renovation of our future home in Oreland! While the work is steady (and sometimes messy), we’re encouraged by the progress being made and by God’s continued provision through it all.

Recent Updates
* Cracked sewer line repaired: A major praise! A cracked sewer line was repaired thanks to Tim Stonehouse, a contractor friend of the church.
* Sanctuary progress: Kneelers have been removed, the front wall from the front pew has been removed, two pews from the rear of the sanctuary have been taken out to create additional space, and a third dumpster has been filled and hauled away—totaling an additional 2.5 tons of debris (whew!).
* Basement walls: The renovation team now has a clear plan for sealing the basement walls (thank goodness).
* Permitting: Matt (our architect) is on track to hand drawings over to our contractor by the end of this week so the permitting process can begin.
* New discoveries: Additional cracked sewer lines have been found in the Annex/Classroom building/Parish House—please pray for wisdom as we navigate these unexpected findings.
* Winter weather: Cold conditions are slowing progress, so we’re praying for patience and continued momentum.

Upcoming Work Day
We’re hoping to host a work day on Saturday, February 7th. Tasks may include applying the first coat of masonry sealer to the basement walls and cleaning the ceiling. This work is not especially skilled, but it is tedious, and extra hands would be incredibly helpful. Be on the lookout for details to be shared this week once we confirm readiness!

Prayer Requests
* Wisdom around unexpected repairs and discoveries
* Continued progress despite winter weather
* Clear next steps as permitting begins

Financial Update
We continue to celebrate the incredible milestone of reaching (and passing!) our initial $500,000 capital campaign goal—a powerful reflection of God’s provision and Bridge's generosity. As you can see from this update, the funds raised are already being put to good use in renovating the building!

And like any new "homeowners" we're also gaining a clearer picture of what it will take to open the doors and worship together in the space. What we’re learning is that while the initial goal was a critical first step, it will not cover everything required to get us fully ready. Our focus right now is on two things:
1. Identifying the key updates and repairs that are necessary for us to worship together safely and faithfully.
AND
2. Being good stewards as we weigh what we originally planned, what we’ve discovered now that we’re in the building, and how much we can reasonably accomplish through DIY efforts and volunteer time.

We’re committed to sharing updates along the way and walking this season together with transparency, wisdom, and trust in God’s continued provision. Note that our next in-person update will take place during our church-wide brunch on Feb 22nd.

Please continue to pray that God would give us wisdom for each step and provide just what we need.

With gratitude,
Bridge Community Church
