Building Momentum: New Opportunities for Rural Colorado Entrepreneurs

February greetings from First Southwest Community Fund! As we move into 2026, we're excited to share the incredible momentum building across our organization and the communities we serve. This month, we're thrilled to celebrate Naya Rodriguez's well-deserved promotion to Portfolio Manager, recognizing her dedication and expertise in supporting our borrowers.

We're also rolling out exciting learning opportunities designed to help your business thrive. Join us for our FREE Business Model Canvas workshop on February 23rd (English) and 24th (Spanish), and don't miss our comprehensive Startup Entrepreneurship Series beginning March 2nd—graduates receive a $400 grant to jumpstart their business journey! For food entrepreneurs, the Next in Food program kicks off February 17th, offering specialized guidance for restaurant and food truck owners. Also on February 17th, Bookkeeping Without the Headache helps small business owners prepare for the upcoming tax season.

Our commitment to expanding access to capital across rural Colorado continues. Don't forget about our partnership with the Northwest Colorado Innovation Center to launch Northwest Catalyst Capital, offering microloans up to $15,000 at just 5% interest for entrepreneurs in Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt Counties.
Combined with our ACF Regional Rise Fund, First Southwest Bank's Colorado Nonprofit Bridge Loan Fund, and the Childcare Capital & Infrastructure Fund, we have started 2026 with a variety of new financing options tailored to meet diverse community needs.

We've also launched our new streamlined loan platform to enhance our loan customer experience—reach out to our team if you need assistance accessing your account.

Read on to discover all the resources, workshops, and funding opportunities available to support your success this month.

In closing, I'd like to take a moment to honor Jim Olp, a SBDC consultant who worked with countless rural businesses for over 30 years. I had the privilege of working alongside him for many years, and he was an incredible human being whose dedication, expertise, and genuine care for entrepreneurs touched so many lives. He will be greatly missed.

Thank you for reading and sharing this newsletter. Together, we're building stronger, more resilient communities.
