There’s some encouraging news coming out of Washington this month! The House recently passed a bipartisan housing bill aimed at making homes more affordable and speeding up new construction across the country.

In simple terms, this bill is designed to cut red tape, support builders, and make it easier for more homes to be built—especially in areas where housing is in short supply. When more homes are available, prices tend to stabilize, giving buyers more options and less competition.

Why does this matter locally? Here in our Reno–Tahoe market, limited inventory is one of the biggest challenges for buyers. Efforts like this—focused on increasing supply & improving affordability—can help create more opportunities for families & first-time buyers to successfully enter the market.

As a mortgage lender, I see every day how small shifts in the market can make a big difference for real people. While this isn’t an overnight fix, it’s a positive step toward a healthier housing market and more attainable homeownership for our community.
