Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

February 1, 2026

Dear First name / friend,
Congratulations ladies, we survived January—the longest month of the year—and now we’re heading into February, which somehow manages to be both the shortest and the longest month 😜.

Bill and I decided to stay put this weekend and tackle a few house projects. The basement is in dire need of serious organization and purging. I’m decluttering our small master bath, and we’ve started picking out elements for a refresh of the kid/guest bathroom. We’re committed to keeping the original woodwork and cabinetry in there—which we love and gives the room so much character—but it’s definitely making the selection process trickier. It would be easier to start from scratch, but I’m actually enjoying the challenge…especially on cold winter days like these.

And if you’re in nesting or refresh mode like I am, the Better + Less February Edit may be just what you need to do the same for your wardrobe. It starts tomorrow, and you can learn the details and sign up here.

By the end of the month, you’ll have a clear set of personal standards to guide both getting dressed and shopping, you’ll edit out what’s clearly not working, and you’ll build a basics wardrobe that actually makes sense for your lifestyle, body, and personal taste.

Now, on to this week’s update—three things I’ve been using, enjoying, and thought you’d appreciate too.

  1. A Great Full-Body Strength Workout from HOME

I did this workout earlier this week, and I’m still feeling it (in a good way). I love that there’s no chatter, no boring repetition, and the moves are simple yet effective. You can easily adjust the intensity based on the weights you use—or stick with bodyweight if you’re just starting out.

Thirty minutes of intentional movement is one of my daily non-negotiables, and this one gets the job done, without leaving the comfort of home. ✅

2. A Random Treat That Actually Hits the Spot 🍫
Image item
This is one of those recipes I saved from Instagram, tweaked to my own taste, and now make on repeat—usually a few times a week. It satisfies my winter chocolate cravings without blowing my nutrition habits, and it takes about two minutes start to finish. Good source of protein too. Winner.

Microwave Molten Lava Brownie

⅓ cup cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt (I’ve been using Greek yogurt lately—both work)
1 egg
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 Tbsp monk fruit sweetener (I use this golden one)
1 Tbsp protein powder (vanilla, chocolate, or whatever you like - I use this vanilla)
A handful of chocolate chips

Lightly grease a ramekin or small microwave-safe dish.
Add all ingredients except the chocolate chips to a blender and blend until smooth.
(Blending is a must with cottage cheese; with Greek yogurt, you can get away with mixing well using a fork.)

Pour into the dish, sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Microwave for about 90 seconds, adjusting between 1–2 minutes depending on how gooey you like it.
Let it sit for a minute or two, then enjoy!

3. A Year-Round Valentine Accent ❤️ (and an Easy Gift Idea)

Image item
This time of year, I’m always tempted by the pink and red heart sweaters that take over our feeds—but this is a much smarter way to nod to Valentine’s Day without being locked into it for two weeks a year.

I’ve never really been a heart-jewelry person, but something about this necklace changed my mind. The design is clean, modern, and unfussy—cool rather than cutesy—and it works well before, during, and long after Valentine’s Day.

And I especially love the versatility:
 - Wear it long and simple
-  Adjust it into a chic Y-necklace for a little interest
-  Double it up for a layered look

Same necklace, three different looks depending on your outfit and neckline.

It also comes in gold, and you can use code WINTER for 20% off sitewide—which makes it an easy gift for someone you love.

And remember:
“Strong women don’t wait for jewelry—they buy it themselves.”

😘

That's it for today!
Have a great week ahead, and remember to #justgetdressed. ✅👍🏼
