The former HQ of the London Taxi Drivers’ Association has been reinvented as Mason & Fifth’s newest boutique guesthouse, with Canal at the heart of operations. Producers are top‑notch: snacks include Coombeshead Farm ham and Portland crab doughnuts; sharing plates feature Cornish John Dory with lemon‑dill butter and monk’s beard, and Jersey sirloin with brown‑butter jus, béarnaise and potatoes. The wine list showcases classic and contemporary styles from sustainably

Brothers Fin and Lorcan Spiteri have taken the lease of Ariadne’s pub on Latimer Road, North Kensington. Their parents are Melanie Arnold (Rochelle Canteen, The French House) and Jon Spiteri (co‑founder of St. John & an ex-colleague of mine). The brothers are best known for the hugely successful Caravel in Islington. It's surprising there hasn't been a re-make of William Golding's Lord of the Flies considering we all probably studied it at school and now my 13 year old son is too. Adolescence writer,  Jack Thorne’s adaptation is the first for television. Truthful to the original novel – set in the early 1950s on an unnamed Pacific island – Thorne’s adaptation delves further into the book’s emotive themes; human nature, the loss of innocence and boyhood masculinity.

If anyone remembers the Q.E.D documentary back in the 80's ‘John’s Not Mad' (I do!) then they will know John Davidson. I Swear opens with an irreverent moment. As John Davidson (Robert Aramayo) lines up to receive his MBE from the Queen, nerves get the better of him and he blurts, “F**k the Queen!” It’s a bold, shocking beat that sets up the film’s two tones: the cosy, feel‑good surface it seems to follow, and the awkward, involuntarily foul‑mouthed man at its centre. the best film I have seen this year and deserves all the Bafta nominations.

We use only WildFarmed™ flour for everything we bake — sourdough, focaccia, tin loaves, cakes and pizza. WildFarmed is a nutritious, stone‑milled grain grown using regenerative methods that respect the natural systems plants, animals and people rely on; it brings the idea of rewilding to farming. Founder Andy Cato (one half of electronic duo Groove Armada) sold the rights to his music catalogue to buy a farm and start growing wheat. WildFarmed aims to show that farming with nature is possible and to build a network of like‑minded growers -  now around 150 farmers connected via a WhatsApp group.
