Welcome back 💕

This is part two of our February Tip Tuesday series on breaking down video editing in Canva. Each week builds gently on the last so, if you opened a video project last week, you’re right on track.

Once your video clips are on the canvas, this is where clarity starts to shine.

Editing in Canva isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention. Small adjustments can instantly make your content feel more focused, more professional, and easier to watch.

Here are four simple edits that make a big difference:
1. Trim clips
  • Select the clip you want to trim.
  • Navigate to the top toolbar and select the ✂️ scissors icon.
  • The timeline for that clip will appear.
    • Drag the left edge to adjust the starting point.
    • Drag the right edge to adjust when it ends.

The next 3 steps involve the timeline which appears at the bottom of your design canvas when you have a video clip selected.
2. Adjust the timing
  • To adjust the timing of when the element appears, drag the entire element left or right along the timeline.

3. Split clips
  • With the desired clip selected, type S or right click on the clip to split longer footage into smaller, more purposeful moments.

4. Re-order clips
  • Drag your clips into a flow that feels natural and supportive of your message.

Tip Tuesday takeaway:
Editing isn’t about cutting things down. It’s about making space for what matters most.
