We are over the moon to share that Coventry’s night-time economy has been awarded a major international accreditation.
The city has been recognised with prestigious Purple Flag status, to show to residents, visitors, workers, and students that we are constantly working hard to provide a safe, entertaining, diverse and enjoyable night out.
Our new Purple Flag accreditation reflects coordinated work across Coventry BID, Coventry City Council, and West Midlands Police to raise standards and ensure positive night-time experiences for everyone in the city centre, including a range of schemes such as Ask for Angela, Best Bar None, and Protect & Prepare.
We've also shared 200,000 safety items over the last 3 years for venues to distribute free of charge, including DrinkSafe anti-spiking covers, bottle toppers and DrinkSafe testing strips. Alongside the installation of 100 public defibrillators and bleed kits, and further activity such as introducing taxi marshals, and expanding the Coventry BID street patrol team service to deter crime and anti-social behaviour in the evening.
