Dear First name / friend,
Earlier this week, you created a working closet for one category.
You reduced what you see — and that alone likely made getting dressed easier.
Today, we’re taking the next step:
editing your core categories on purpose, using the standards you’ve already defined.
This is where decisions finally get made — but carefully.
Edit Category by Category
This is not about cleaning out your closet.
It’s about making clear, contained decisions using the rules you’ve already put in place.
When editing works, it’s because:
The scope is defined
The criteria are clear
You complete the process fully
👉🏼 Step 1: Work Category by Category
Do not bounce around your closet.
Choose one category and complete the full process before moving to the next:
Tops
Pants
Layers
Momentum comes from structure — not variety.
Finish one.
Then move to the next using the same steps.
👉🏼 Step 2: Use Your Standards as Filters
Take each piece in that category and check:
Does it break a NO on my Automatic NO List?
Does it violate one of my non-negotiables?
Does it easily fit into one of my default outfit formulas?
If the answer is no more than once, the decision is usually clear.
👉🏼 Step 3: Make One of Three Decisions
Each item in the category gets one of these outcomes:
Keep in daily rotation
These are pieces you wear regularly. They meet your non-negotiables and easily fit into your default outfit formulas.
Keep, but move out of daily rotation
These pieces still work — but they’re not everyday defaults.
They get stored, moved to another closet, or placed outside your main getting-dressed area so they’re not part of daily decisions.
Move out of rotation completely
Donation, resale, or long-term storage for items that no longer meet your standards or realistically get worn.
Only use a “review later” pile if you truly need more information.
Indecision is not a permanent category.
👉🏼 Step 4: Complete All Three — One at a Time
Once one category is fully edited, move to the next and repeat the exact process.
Do not mix categories.
Do not half-finish one and start another.
Finish each one cleanly before moving forward.
This isn’t a marathon purge.
It’s three contained passes.
When You’re Done
You should have:
✅ Three fully edited core categories
✅ Fewer pieces competing for attention
✅ Greater confidence in your decision-making process
You’re not guessing anymore — you’re applying standards.
Next week, we’ll step back and identify the foundational basics that make everything else easier to wear.
Keep up the great work!
xo,
Beth
P.S. Don’t turn this into a full-house cleanout. 😆
Your job this week is just your three core clothing categories — nothing beyond that.
Small, deliberate passes. That’s how this system works. 👍🏼
