We’re halfway through our February video series and I'm all the way through the first installment of the latest Bridgerton (if you couldn't already tell)…
In the first 2 weeks, you started to lay the foundation for your video content, so this week is all about letting your designs feel a little more alive, expressive, and aligned with your brand.
This is the fun part 😁
Styling your video is where your personality, tone, and visual voice really get to come through. Even simple footage can feel elevated when you animate with intention:
1. Add on-screen text to support what you’re saying + guide your viewer.
To add text, go to the text tab, then select add a text box.
Or use one of my favorite keyboard shortcuts and just type T anywhere on the canvas.
Be sure to use your brand font(s) or one that is aligned with your brand.
2. Use transitions to help scenes flow smoothly instead of feeling abrupt.
While in thumbnail view (not page view), select a video track in the timeline at the bottom of your design and click the ellipses (…) icon.
Click add transition and select a transition.
You can customize the duration and direction of the transition using the duration section.
3. Apply animations to text or elements to create movement and energy.
With the desired text or element selected, click animate on the top toolbar.
You can choose to animate the entire page using one of Canva's pre-built features or select one of the many element animation options.
As you hover over the animations, you will get a preview of how it functions within your design. And most of them can be customized to:
animate “on enter”, “on exit”, or “both”
your desired speed
the direction of your choosing
💡 A little goes a long way. Subtle motion feels modern, thoughtful, and confident — especially when it aligns with your brand visuals.
If you’ve ever worried about your videos looking “basic,” motion is often the missing piece. It helps your content feel designed, not thrown together, and it adds a level of visual interest that captures the viewer's attention.
This week, choose one of these new skills and apply it consistently across your video content.
Tip Tuesday takeaway:
Your video will resonate most with those who feel its true intention.
