La Paz is one of those places in Mexico that immediately feels otherworldly to me.
 
Whenever you look around — the mountains, the desert, the blues of the ocean — there’s this quiet sensation of being somewhere completely different. Almost as if you’ve stepped into another world. And the more time you spend here, the more that feeling expands.

As you move through Baja California Sur, you begin to notice how many ecosystems coexist in this single territory. Being on the water, visiting small islands. Then returning to land, crossing rolling desert landscapes, mountains, and vast open spaces. The flora, the fauna — everything feels unfamiliar in the most beautiful way. As if you’ve never quite seen anything like it before.
 
There is also a deep sense of stillness here. A beautiful isolation. When you step onto the small islands surrounding La Paz, places that have remained untouched for so many years, you feel the weight of time, weather, water, and wind. You feel surrounded by elemental energies that have been shaping this land long before us.
 
Sometimes, all you do is sit by the ocean. Listening to the waves crash onto the shore. Letting that sound take over your attention. Slowly, it washes over you, and without noticing, you begin to feel like part of the landscape itself — luminous, vast, and quiet.

La Paz is one of our favorite destinations in Mexico for this reason. Whether you’re on land or at sea, there is an overwhelming sense of calm. You witness unspoiled nature and colors that shift constantly throughout the day — from midday brightness to sunsets that cloak everything in hues and intensities that feel unique to this place.
 
Food here is just as alive as the landscape. Baja California Sur has developed an inventive and deeply rooted cuisine. There is a strong sense of place in what is being cooked — young chefs, fresh ideas, and a curiosity around what it truly means to create a Baja cuisine.
 
In La Paz, seafood reaches another level entirely. Everything is caught right beside you. You taste the ocean almost instantly. It’s a rare privilege — to taste a place so directly, so honestly, so alive.
 
Hospitality here moves differently. At first, it may feel distant. The rhythm is slower, more fluid, shaped by the coast itself. If you’re used to a fast, urban pace, you have to soften. Adjust. Ease into the flow. And when you do, the hospitality reveals itself — quietly, gradually — and the entire experience takes on a new shape, a new flavor.
