ISSUE #29 | February 9, 2026

Hi, it's Miriam.

Welcome back to the At Work Tune Up, your insider’s playbook with practical, quick, tips on how to keep things happy and healthy at work.

We spend a lot of time at work. We should love what we do.

Let's get started.

This week's tip for your toolbox:
Look in the (professional) mirror.

Whether you’re part of a team or working solo, each of us puts our finger prints on how the work day feels. And as we know, some days feel like our work is exactly what we should be doing, and some days push the frustration meter over the top.

Here's the thing:
You are stuck with you every day.
You bring your mindset into meetings,
Your assumptions into interactions,
Your habits into workflow.

Your work may need a whole lot of fixing, or maybe you've had the best professional month of your career. Either way, look for where you can find improvement every day.

This week’s tune-up:
Take a look at how you approach work - where you help move things forward, and where you are bringing in the obstacles.

Let's see where we can tighten the screws on the swingset.

How to make it happen ⬇️

Try this in your next quiet moment (not a meeting)

Check out this Ramps + Obstacles worksheet on your own, before the end of the week.

Complete these sentences honestly.
(Here's a tip: Consider what others might say about working with you.)

RAMP:
I contribute to moving things forward by:

OBSTACLE:
It is challenging for others when I:

SPOTLIGHT:*
Knowing my Working Genius and Frustration, this is a blindspot I am aware of:

*This makes sense if you are aware of your Working Genius and Frustration. If you're not, get in touch with me. Let's talk.

Name one small shift. What’s one behavior you could adjust to move things from obstacles to ramps to success?

✅ This week’s challenge
After completing the Ramps + Obstacles worksheet once on your own, before the end of the week, choose one small adjustment to try in your next interaction. It can be as simple as:
  • Pausing before jumping in
  • Asking one clarifying question instead of assuming
  • Holding back instead of offering an opinion that has already been stated.
Bonus Points: Discuss the Ramps + Obstacles worksheet with your team. If you are at a place of trust where you can speak openly about what you do well and where you struggle, you're one step closer to a healthy, happy team.

Try it. Let me know how it goes.

If this newsletter resonates with you, here are three more ways I can help:
  1. Follow me on LinkedIn or Instagram for bite-sized tips throughout the week (free).
  2. Work with me for 1:1 executive coaching or strategy consulting. Hit reply and I’ll send you a few questions to see if we’re a fit.
  3. Book me as a retreat facilitator or speaker. Invest in your teams and you will be happy you did. I'd love to work with you. Please reply to this email or email me directly.
I’m a teacher at heart, and love helping people get better at what they do.

Small changes make a big difference.

Just get started.

Miriam
