There are worse things for an illustrator than being swamped with work, but it means you haven't heard from me in a while. I haven't posted much on social media either. Attempting to keep up with everything is something I've finally stopped trying to do and my life has been all the better for it. The downside is needing to show off four new covers at once in my newsletter. (they're all clickable BTW if you want to know more). I'm really proud of all the pieces I've created last year, including these covers. It's also been really exhausting.
This year is shaping up to be similarly busy: I've started with two huge multi-illustration projects (13+ illustrations each!) and have started to take on some new cover work as well.Â
Right now I'm taking a bit of a breather as I'm waiting on feedback for one of the big jobs and managed to already complete another one last month. I'm a bit surprised by how quickly I ended up creating 13 illustrations, all while the end result looks really beautiful! I still underestimate what routine and experience in my work process can do. And full focus. Last month was just me, my desk and my cat. And the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. Priorities.

As grateful as I am for my full schedule, I increasingly feel the itch to return to old personal projects of mine: Novels I started years back and still need a few rounds of editing. My Dryads series. A non-fiction book about managing anxiety and imposter syndrome as an artist.Â
The idea of never getting to finish any of them is starting to feel more and more painful. And because I don't want to go back to juggling everything at the same time, I'll need to make some changes in the future:
Â
- Social media posting will become minimal.Â
 - While I want to work more on videos longterm, I might put the breaks on Youtube for now as well. I'm currently toying with the idea of producing ‘series’ about different themes and taking breaks in between.Â
 - I do want to write to you via newsletter more instead. Just monthly summaries of what's going on. I used to do and enjoy that very much in the past.
- I'll also need to be much more picky with which projects I take on and which not. As somebody who has a hard time saying no, this will be a bit of a learning curve!
