Titan Nation,

 

This week, our Titans traveled throughout our state to share their talents with their community and grow in character. At our school, we value the enrichment activities our scholars engage in outside of school just as much as we value the activities inside the classroom. That is why we celebrate their constant commitment not only to do more outside the classroom, but the way they select to do it. Whether its sharing their musical talents with their peers, preparing for a successful athletic season, or witnessing their classroom lessons in action, our Titans are showing up to all of their activities the Titan way.

7th Grade Tallahassee Trip 

The 2025 - 2026 True North 7th Grade Tallahassee Trip has officially come to an end. 

 

Over the past two weeks, our 7th-grade scholars traveled to Tallahassee for an immersive civics experience, where they witnessed government in action. During their visit, they explored the Historic Florida Capitol Building, the Florida Supreme Court, the Florida Department of Education, the Florida House Chamber, the Florida Senate Chamber, and a Senate committee room. Our scholars also had the honor of hearing from Speaker of the House Daniel Perez, Supreme Court Justice John Couriel, Commissioner of Education Stasi Kamoutsas, future Speaker of the House Jennifer Canady, Representative Omar Blanco, and other Florida political leaders. The annual 7th-grade Tallahassee trip is a favorite among parents and scholars because it brings civics to life.

 

At True North, we are committed to cultivating individuals who actively engage in their communities and aspire to do good. The Tallahassee trip is just one of the many ways our schools intentionally foster these virtues.

5th Grade Solar Ovens

Rowena Gerber, grandmother of Betty Gerber and a retired educator, spent the morning with our fifth-grade Dadeland scholars leading an engaging lesson on solar ovens. This experience served as a culminating activity following our scholars’ study of different types of energy.

 

During the session, our scholars actively participated in discussions about forms of energy, energy transformation, and the experimental process. They also explored variables that impact solar cooking, such as shade versus direct sunlight and the effect of color on solar panels. The lesson provided a meaningful, hands-on opportunity for our scholars to apply their learning and deepen their scientific understanding.

Florida Music Performance Assessment Solo & Ensemble

The Florida Music Performance Assessment (MPA) Solo & Ensemble event took place on February 6, showcasing the talent and dedication of student musicians from across the region. We are proud to share that True North Academy students earned exemplary ratings at this prestigious event.

 

Phoebe Powell, True North Classical Academy Gateway, received the distinguished rating of Superior with Distinction, and Lucas Monch, True North Classical Academy Gateway, earned a rating of Superior. These honors represent the highest levels of achievement and reflect countless hours of focused preparation and practice.

 

Congratulations, scholars! 

From Caterpillar to Collaboration

For the third year in a row, True North Classical Academy Art Scholars from across all campuses were selected to create original artworks for the Board of Directors of The Education Fund.

 

Drawing inspiration from illustrator Eric Carle, author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, students created vibrant culinary collages celebrating nutrition and The Education Fund’s Food Forests for Schools program. Through layered collage techniques, students explored texture, color, and expressive food imagery.

 

This project highlights a meaningful cross-grade and cross-campus collaboration. Kindergarten through third-grade students initiated the works, while seventh- and eighth-grade students refined and completed them, demonstrating artistic growth, mentorship, and community learning across age levels.

Spring Athletic Season

This week marked an exciting start to the Spring athletic season, as 4 of our spring athletic teams competed in their season openers. True North Baseball, Flag Football, Tennis (Boys), and Track & Field experienced energetic matches and showed up to every single match #TitanStrong. 

 

True North Baseball secured a 2–0 victory over Pine Crest, Flag Football kicked off the season with a win against Ferguson, and our boys Tennis team delivered an impressive 7–0 sweep over Belen. Meanwhile, our reigning champion Track & Field team launched their season with the same drive that secured their previous title.
