Lifesaving equipment restored at FarGo Village

A new defibrillator has been installed at Fargo Village after a Midlands organisation stepped in following an urgent appeal.

We issued a call-out in December after a community defibrillator was not returned to its cabinet after being deployed during an emergency.

Following extensive enquiries, the original device was not recovered, but that was when the Warwickshire Freemasons Charity and Mike Smith Training Ltd stepped in to help.

The organisation donated a new defibrillator which has now been installed at FarGo Village, ensuring people near the creative quarter continue to have access to this critical equipment.

NTE Summit

Last week, Coventry BID’s Chief Executive and Security Manager had the pleasure of attending the Night Time Economy Summit in Liverpool – a key event in the calendar for everyone passionate about supporting and strengthening our city centres after dark.

Held in the vibrant city of Liverpool, the summit brought together industry leaders, city representatives, safety professionals and policy makers from across the UK, all focused on one shared goal: championing and evolving the Night Time Economy.

It was fantastic to reconnect with familiar faces and, just as importantly, to build new relationships with professionals who are equally committed to creating safe, welcoming and thriving night-time environments. Events like this are invaluable for sharing best practice, discussing challenges and exploring innovative solutions that can benefit cities like Coventry.

A particular highlight was hearing directly from the Mayor of Liverpool and the Mayor of Manchester. Their insights into the opportunities and challenges facing the Night Time Economy were both thought-provoking and inspiring. From discussions around safety and partnership working to strategies for driving footfall and supporting businesses, it was clear that collaboration across cities is essential to long-term success.

The Night Time Economy plays a crucial role in local growth – supporting jobs, hospitality, culture, entertainment and tourism. As BIDs, our responsibility is to ensure that businesses feel supported, that visitors feel safe, and that our city centres remain vibrant destinations well into the evening.

Summits like this ensure the voice of the Night Time Economy continues to be heard at regional and national levels. They reinforce the importance of partnership between local authorities, businesses, security teams and industry bodies, and they provide a platform to influence future policy and investment.

We return to Coventry energised, informed and inspired – ready to continue strengthening our partnerships and building on the work we do to support a safe, successful and sustainable Night Time Economy.

If you would like to learn more about our work or get involved in upcoming initiatives, please get in touch. Together, we can continue to champion Coventry after dark.
