There’s something special about the start of a new year—it’s a time for fresh inspiration, new ideas, and exciting projects ahead. As we begin the year 2026, we’re seeing interior design move in a direction that feels warm, everlasting, and deeply personal. Natural materials, thoughtful details, and inviting color palettes are shaping homes that are both beautiful and comfortable to live in. We’re excited to share some of the inspiration and emerging design trends that are influencing our work this year. Last month, Sally and Katelyn traveled to Round Top, Texas, immersing themselves in its renowned antique markets and design showcases in search of one-of-a-kind pieces for upcoming projects. From handcrafted furnishings to vintage finds, the trip was a thoughtful exploration of character and craftsmanship— each discovery carefully chosen to bring depth and distinction to future interiors. Even more exciting, we’re beginning the year by celebrating the completion of one of our recent projects. From the early design concepts to the final placement of furnishings and artwork, bringing a home together is always a rewarding journey. We look forward to sharing more project highlights, design inspiration, and ideas with you throughout the year ahead. |

Here's to another year of beautiful, inspired interiors! |

When it comes to designing a lake home it should feel calm, welcoming, and effortless. For this recent project at Lake Gaston, our goal was to create a space that felt refreshed, relaxed, and beautifully cohesive. The design direction centered on a transitional style that blends classic elements with a softer, more casual aesthetic. We guided the homeowners through a thoughtful selection of key finishes and furnishings, including lighting, tile, paint colors, furniture, rugs, art, and decorative accessories. Each layer was carefully chosen to create a home that feels elevated yet comfortable for everyday living and entertaining. The color palette draws inspiration from the natural surroundings of the lake, incorporating soft blues and gentle grays that bring a sense of calm and balance to the interiors. These tones create a serene backdrop while allowing texture and layered materials to add depth and warmth. Beautiful light fixtures provide both function and visual interest, while carefully selected furnishings and textiles introduce softness and subtle contrast. Artwork, rugs, and decor complete the design, giving each space a curated and personal feel. The result is a home that feels refined, relaxed, and perfectly suited for lake living. *Please note, the photos below are not professional. Interior design is shifting in a beautiful direction. Homes are becoming warmer, richer, and more personal—layered with natural materials, thoughtful details, and sophisticated craftsmanship. The common theme across all of these trends is intentional design—homes that feel comfortable, layered, and timeless while supporting the way we live today. Here are a few of the trends shaping 2026 interiors. *Credit to Houzz and Luxe for trend info. _________________________________________ A Softer Take on Traditional We’re seeing a renewed love for traditional design elements inspired by English country and modern Tudor homes. Inset cabinetry, plate racks, richly stained woods, and arched details bring warmth and charm. Curves, arches, and detailed millwork create spaces that feel inviting and everlasting. |

The Return of Rich Wood Warm and medium wood tones are reclaiming their place in interiors. Walnut, cherry, and white oak—often finished in deeper stains—add depth and authenticity that instantly elevate a room. |

Warm, Grounded Color Palettes The cooler grays of the past are giving way to warmer, earthier tones. Shades like sage, olive, dusty blue, warm taupe, deep brown, and buttery yellow create spaces that feel grounded and welcoming. Paired with natural textures like linen, wool, and rattan, these palettes bring softness and depth. |

Green: A New Neutral Perhaps the most versatile color of the moment is green. From soft sage to deep forest, green acts as a grounding neutral that works beautifully across cabinetry, textiles, and walls. |

Wallpaper as Art Wallpaper is no longer a backdrop—it’s becoming the centerpiece. Today’s luxury interiors are embracing wallpaper as a form of art, with expansive murals, hand-painted scenes, and large-scale handcrafted designs transforming walls into immersive visual experiences. These statement pieces are carefully curated to anchor a room rather than overwhelm it. |

The Evolution of the Workstation Sink Where Function Meets Flow. In today’s luxury kitchens, efficiency is the ultimate indulgence. Far more than a traditional basin, workstation sinks are engineered to maximize counter space while improving workflow. Integrated accessories such as cutting boards, colanders, drying racks, and prep bowls slide effortlessly across built-in ledges, transforming the sink into a multifunctional hub. |

Standout Appliance Spotlight: Pet Pro Top Load Washer by Maytag Luxury living is as much about convenience as it is about beauty—and for pet owners, that means solutions tailored to real life. A standout innovation designed specifically for households with pets that shed. At the heart of its design is the Pet Pro Filter, which actively traps and removes pet hair during the wash cycle. A built-in water faucet adds another layer of functionality, allowing users to spot-treat stains or soak fabrics directly in the washer. For added convenience, the washer connects to the Maytag app. |

As mentioned, Sally & Katelyn traveled to Designer Day at the Round Top last month, where the bi-annual event attracts over 100,000 shoppers to an 11-mile span along Hwy 237, and features 65 venues. This remarkable event gathers dealers offering everything from early American country textiles and artwork to refined Continental furniture and distinctive accessories. The team is excited to have discovered iconic treasures that will bring authenticity, texture, and a sense of story into the interiors we create, along with the discovery of decorative bull horns which bring just the right touch of frontier spirit—because every elegant space benefits from a hint of the unexpected (and perhaps a subtle warning to behave). Follow along as we share some of our favorite finds from Round Top. |
