Hi First name / there! Lately, I've been thinking about how I want to spend more time connecting with other creative entrepreneurs, whether that's online or in person. Maybe it's a reaction to how much of our world is becoming all about AI… Friendly networking, if you will (I've found it to be fun and not ick when networking with other creatives 🤭)! I've been going to Glitch & Bitch for a while now. It's hosted by Mushaboom Studio and it's a monthly meetup where creatives get together and chat about a theme. It's a fun, low-key way to meet other people in the industry. I also have to give a shout out to my accountability buddy Joy! We do a monthly call and set weekly goals together and it's just such a nice way to stay connected and motivated. One of my only fears about working for myself was not having co-workers, and I've been pleasantly surprised at how friendly and open the creative community has been. It got me thinking — are there any events (online or in person in Toronto) that you'd recommend? I'd love to know what's out there. And honestly… should I just host my own Toronto meetup? I'm kind of tempted. Let me know what you think! |

A Requiem of Unrepentant Anguish |

Did you catch the Squarespace Super Bowl ad with Emma Stone? Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (director of Poor Things and The Favourite), it follows Emma's increasingly dramatic spiral after discovering that emmastone.com is taken. There are a lot of smashed laptops, burned devices, and full cinematic anguish. But the best part has to be the assistant on roller skates (random but fun 🛼)! I felt this one personally, the .com version of my name was already taken 😭 (I had no idea there were so many Erin Fitzsimmons out in the world). I went with a .ca version and I'm happy with how that turned out, as it signals to other Canadians that I'm Canadian. But let's be real, the default is always .com… What I love about Squarespace's Super Bowl ads is that they never lead with features. They're always selling a bigger idea. This year's message was simple: claim your name online before someone else does. Your domain is your digital identity, and if you don't grab it, someone else will. If it could happen to Emma Stone (and me!), it can happen to anyone. |

Development tools are the resources I use behind the scenes to actually build websites. They help me write cleaner code, troubleshoot faster, and keep my workflow organized. Whether I'm tracking down a block ID, testing code across browsers, or optimizing images for faster load times, I rely on these tools every single day. Read the blog post here. |

Saved pages: If you’re a Circle member, you can now save up to 100 pages to your account for use across your websites!! Not only saved sections, but whole pages now, but no collections like Blog and Portfolios 😔 (there is always the Squarespace Chrome Extension Pro tool though). Improved search feature: The search functionality on Squarespace sites has been improved to show results faster, with better and more complete results. It also now includes improved indexing, meaning content within sections and category names for stores are included in search results (so confusing why they weren't before!). As a bonus, error messaging has also been improved so site visitors can better understand why a search didn't return results. |
