Springing into a New Semester
One month in, and the energy in classrooms across Dallas and Collin County is already vibrant!

Adult learners are showing up ready. They are settling into ESL classes, making progress in online GED courses, and working toward goals that matter: better opportunities at work and more confidence at home and in their communities.

Some are returning students, back with momentum and eager to keep going. Others walked through the door for the very first time this semester and are already discovering what they're capable of.

This is what the spring semester looks like at Aspire. And we cannot wait to see where it takes them. From all corners of the metroplex, our dedicated staff and volunteers are ready to support every student on their learning journey.

Readers 2 Leaders – West Dallas West Dallas is a neighborhood with a lot of momentum right now, and the learners at Readers 2 Leaders are part of it. A month in, classrooms are already full of conversation and the kind of energy that builds on itself week after week.

The Storehouse Community Center – Plano Plano is one of the most linguistically diverse cities in Texas, and The Storehouse is right in the thick of it. This semester, students are bringing that diversity into the classroom: different backgrounds, different goals, and a shared drive to move forward.

Jubilee Park and Community Center – South Dallas Jubilee Park has been an anchor for South Dallas families for decades. This semester, Aspire's classrooms are full of energy, and learners investing in themselves fits right in with everything this community center stands for.

Metrocrest Services – Carrollton Carrollton is a city where community runs deep. At Metrocrest, Aspire is putting down roots, offering a space where learners can focus on their goals and build lasting skills.

Buckner Family Hope Center – West Dallas Buckner has long been a place where families find support at every stage of life. With Aspire now part of that mix, something special is taking shape: a classroom community that goes well beyond the four walls it meets in.

Now Enrolling: Reading Classes for Adults
Do you know someone who wants to learn to read and could benefit from a more personalized approach?

Aspire is now enrolling for its spring session of adult reading classes, which will start at the end of March.

For many adults, reading struggles began in early childhood and went undiagnosed or unsupported in traditional classrooms, resulting in long-term literacy difficulties. Many of our students come to Aspire unable to read or recognize the sounds letters make, placing them at a pre-K to first-grade reading level.

Our Sequential English Education (SEE) program is specifically designed for these adults (18+) who have visual and/or auditory processing differences, such as dyslexia or auditory processing disorder, that make traditional literacy instruction more challenging.

SEE is an English language literacy series that uses a structural-linguistic approach tailored to the way each adult learns most effectively. In small, supportive group settings, trained Aspire volunteer instructors guide students through foundational language skills using multi-sensory instruction. Students engage with all aspects of learning, including hearing, seeing, speaking, and writing, with frequent repetition to build a true comprehension of the English alphabet and core reading concepts.

We have seen students in this program make remarkable progress, not only improving their reading skills but also gaining the confidence to take on new goals, from filling out forms to writing birthday cards for loved ones.

If you know someone who may benefit from this kind of support, encourage them to call us at 214.824.2000 or you may fill out a form on their behalf at www.aspiretolearn.org/interest-form.
