Happy Sunday (or whatever day it is when you're reading this) ☁️

Where does the time go? Probably something you've thought about lately when doom scrolling (saw someone this week call it a scroll hole lol).
  • What is time?
  • A free time tracking tool
  • Everyone must watch Alysa Liu

Time Management Skills of a Carrot

I tell my husband I'm going upstairs to get ready.

I plug in my straightener, put on sunscreen, watch Alysa Liu create magic on ice.

Jared sends me this gif.

Huh.

I glance at the clock.

I guess it has been almost an hour. But what have I been doing?

Honestly, couldn't tell you. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Time blindness has struck again.

Time blindness is an inability to recognize how much time has passed or estimate how long something will take.

Everyone experiences this to some degree.

Ever look up from a doom scroll and suddenly it's been an hour?

Or you're hooked on a great book and suddenly it's midnight?

Time blindness is more extreme for some people, often people with ADHD.

So, what do you do about it?
  • Being aware of your tendency to have time blindness when doing certain tasks can help.

  • Setting alarms or timers for hard stops. Sometimes multiple alarms…

  • Make it a game - how fast can you complete x task against a timer? Or what do you “win” when the task is completed? (One of my clients was incentivizing herself with The Pitt season 2 this week.)
I will be utilizing these strategies this week when I update my pinned posts on Instagram.

I can quickly fall into extreme time blindness on Canva. I want everything to be ~just right~.

I'm sharing here for some extra accountability. 👯‍♀️ What can I help you be accountable with this week?

Track Your  Time

Do you think that task will take an hour? Or do you know it will take an hour?

Time blindness can go both ways. Sometimes we over estimate or under estimate. Sometimes we put off tasks that we don't want to do then they end up taking a whole 5 minutes.

🌻 Track your time.

Choose one task in your life or business this week and time track it. See how long it actually takes you to empty the dishwasher or go through your emails.

I like toggl. I use the free version, you can track by task and/or client. The mobile app is decent and they send you an email if you forget to turn off a timer (ask me how I know).

Let me know what task you track and if it takes less or more time than you expect!

🧶 MAKING
In 2020 I learned how to knit and started a blanket made of 30 different patterned squares. I have 29 done and I've decided this is the year I finish it.

💅🏼 FOR CLIENTS
Trip planning! I have two clients planning international trips this summer. Travel planning is so much work, sometimes you need someone else to bounce ideas off of or to get creative with trip options.
