Tips, Tools, and Insights for Your Online Business |
|
Hello First name / friend,  Can you believe that we are in the last month for the first quarter of 2026? By this time I had thought that I would beginning to teach the second cohort/release of the Website Foundations Course, but that has not happened. Have you ever had a goal with a “deadline” and missed it? It can make one feel disappointed or can I say even a failure. I was told by those close to me to give myself grace and it will happen because they saw my passion to help other women entrepreneurs establish their online presence.  Do you have a business goal for 2026? Hit reply and share it with me. Sometimes sharing adds accountability, but when things don't go according to plan you have someone to keep you focused on the big picture and not get mired down in the unimportant.  Perhaps a goal you have is to create or improve your existing website…if so you are in the right place.  In this months issue of Site Notes: - New blog post: Top Five Legal Pages Your Website Needs"
- Workshop Replay Available - Â "Can You Build A Website?"
- Website Foundations Course Info - Registrations closes March 31st.

WordPress 6.9.4 is now available. This is a security release that features several fixes.  You can download WordPress 6.9.4 from WordPress.org, or visit your WordPress Dashboard, click “Updates”, and then click “Update Now”. If your website is using automatic background updates or on Managed WordPress Hosting plan, the update process will begin automatically.  NOTE: Before updating your website verify that you have a recent backup or if you have a staging site make the update there and if no issues push the update to your live site.  If you’re unsure where to start, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to guide you toward the best solution for keeping your website updated, secure, and working the way it should.   |

I’m really excited about a new creation from WordPress called my.WordPress.net.  It runs directly in your browser and lets you start using WordPress instantly…no hosting plan, no domain name, and no sign-up required.  Imagine being able to test-drive WordPress without any of the usual setup. Just open your browser, go to my.WordPress.net, and follow the simple prompts. It takes less than a minute to get started.  Once you’re in, you’ll have access to the same WordPress environment you would see on a hosted website, which means you can explore themes, try plugins, and learn how WordPress works in a safe space where you can experiment and make mistakes without worrying about breaking a real site.  It’s also a wonderful place for personal use. You could use it for: - Writing and journaling
- Saving notes or recipes
- Testing design ideas
- Learning WordPress features
- Experimenting with plugins and themes
Think of it as your personal WordPress sandbox. It is a simple, commitment-free way to explore the platform and learn at your own pace.  If you’ve ever been curious about WordPress but felt overwhelmed by the setup process, this is a great place to start.  I often tell my students that the best way to learn WordPress is simply to click around and experiment, and this tool gives you a safe space to do exactly that. |

Plugin Highlight: WP Consent |
|
When we visit websites today, we’re often met with messages asking us to accept cookies or give consent before we can continue.   These notices are part of a growing focus on transparency and protecting visitor data. As website owners, it’s important that we not only have them in place, but that we understand what they mean and what our own sites should include. |
|
Why I love this plugin and install it on all the websites I create: WP Consent is a simple WordPress plugin that helps manage cookie notices and visitor consent settings so your website is transparent about tracking and data collection. With privacy expectations continuing to grow, having a clear consent solution on your website is becoming essential. Even if you run a small business website, transparency around data collection shows professionalism and care for your visitors.  Important reminder: Make sure you have a “Cookie Policy" legal page and that it is accessible to visitors to your website.  👉 WPConsent is one of the tools I recommend when setting up legal forms for you website and yes, we cover this inside the Website Foundations course. |
|
PS: The Website Foundations Course registration closes March 31st at midnight. Â Only 30 available spots. If this course has been on your mind register today! |
