Thrive Naturally + Holistically

Hi, First name / Friend!

Sometimes, a question I hear in the clinic becomes the article I know I need to write.

Lately, more people have been asking some version of the same thing before their first treatment: "Is it supposed to hurt?"It's a fair question, and an important one. The honest answer is more nuanced than a simple yes or no — and understanding it can change how you experience care.

This month's article looks at why acupuncture points sometimes feel stronger, what that sensation actually means, and why gentler treatment is often more effective than intense stimulation. It's a window into how Japanese-style acupuncture works, and why the approach at Element 5 may feel different from what you've heard or experienced before.

Below, you'll also find a simple reminder that your environment shapes your well-being more than you might think, and an easy place to begin.

This month, we're sharing:
  • Monthly article: Why Do Acupuncture Points Hurt: The Honest Answer — what's actually happening when acupuncture feels stronger, and why subtle treatment is often the most effective.
  • Calendar Drop — Limited Spot Available: Acupuncture appointments are released in small batches when space opens up. Details below.
  • Wellness Inspired Podcast: Nice design isn't just decoration. It's part of how we live well. This episode explores how your home, neighborhood, and daily surroundings influence your energy, consistency, and ability to sustain healthy habits, and why willpower isn't the real issue.
  • Seasonal Reflection: Spring is approaching, and with it comes a natural invitation to reassess. In Chinese medicine, this seasonal shift is associated with the Liver — the system of movement, vision, and renewal. Small changes to your environment and routine now can support a smoother transition into the season ahead.
Your well-being doesn't require a dramatic overhaul. It asks for thoughtful, consistent care and surroundings that quietly support you.

Calendar Drops are weekly releases of acupuncture appointment availability when space opens. There’s no fixed schedule, and not every week includes a drop.
When live, available times are offered for a short window at a special access rate of $65 and announced by email and in Instagram and Facebook Stories. If it fits, you catch a spot.

The Make It Stick Kit: Simple guided audios to help you stay consistent with your wellness — in a way that fits your real life.

NEW EPISODE!!!!

We often focus on habits, discipline, and motivation when trying to improve our well-being. But what if the real issue isn't willpower — it's environment?

In this episode, I explore how your home, neighborhood, and daily surroundings quietly shape your energy, consistency, and ability to sustain healthy habits. If your habits don't seem to stick, this offers a new lens.

A March Reset for Your Body

A simple way to support the transition into spring

In Chinese medicine, spring is governed by the Liver, the system responsible for the smooth movement of energy throughout the body. After a long winter of rest and stillness, the body is ready to shift, but that transition takes a little support.

When the Liver is under stress, people often notice irritability, tightness in the neck and shoulders, disrupted sleep, or a sense of being stuck. This time of year, even small changes to your daily routine can help energy move more freely.

Try this Liver-supportive reset:
  • Step outside for a short walk in the morning, even 10 minutes
  • Reduce heavy, rich foods and add more greens and lightly cooked vegetables
  • Stretch gently in the evening, especially the sides of the body and hips
  • Notice where you feel tension or resistance, and give it some room
This isn't about doing more. It's about moving with the season rather than against it.
When the body is supported through transitions, energy flows more easily, mood lifts, and the nervous system finds its footing again.
