I've been talking with a lot of beautiful humans recently about joy. Why joy? One selfish reason: I NEED more joy to do the work I care about, and to do it well, for people. Another reason is that others might be feeling the same way right now.
When we let ourselves experience joy, it helps us build resilience, courage, and strength.
"Choosing to have joy is not naively thinking everything will be easy. It is courageously believing that there is still hope, even when things get hard." — Morgan Harper Nichols
"We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy." — Joseph Campbell
I remind myself everyday that THIS IS MY LIFE. How do I want to feel? Who do I want to be?
Neuroscience research continues to show that joy, both an emotion AND a neurochemical state, can strengthen us as humans in a variety of ways.

A Next Step
One thing shown to increase our capacity for joy is practicing gratitude. Take a moment right now. What is something you're grateful for? Try it again tomorrow. And the next day.
Next week, I'll share more ways we can feel more joyful. 😊
