Barr Lake & Milton Reservoir Watershed Association Intern
Apply now for this paid internship! 
MSU Denver students interested in being connected in the water industry through events, conducting surveys, participating in water quality field work, and community outreach are encouraged to apply.
 
Applicants must be comfortable presenting in groups, be proficient in Microsoft Suite, familiar with water issues in Colorado, have reliable transportation, and can work some weekends and evenings.

Colorado Water Congress- 2026 Internship
Colorado Water Congress seeks a motivated and detail-oriented summer intern to support its policy efforts, communications, and summer conference planning. This internship offers hands-on exposure to Colorado water law and policy, member engagement, and event planning.

Raíces, Resiliencia, Resistencia: Building Coalitions to Protect Mother Earth

This year’s Richard T. and Virginia M. Castro Distinguished Visiting Professorship and the 1Book/1Project/2Transform Program celebrates Indigenous voices and global movements for environmental and social transformation as we host Nemonte Nenquimo, author of We Will Be Jaguars: A Memoir of My People. Events will include campus discussions, community panels, and a public keynote with cultural performances. These events are open to all MSU Denver students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
 
Community Panel & Dinner Reception
April 14: 4-8pm | Denver Botanic Gardens
The discussion will focus on Indigenous feminism, decolonial resistance, and local empowerment, and will be followed by a dinner reception. This event is free and open to the public with advanced registration. All event attendees will also receive free admission to the Denver Botanic Gardens and can arrive early to enjoy the gardens before the event.
 
Author Keynote & Book Signing
April 15: 11am-1pm | Tivoli Turnhalle- Auraria Campus
Nemonte Nenquimo and Mitch Anderson, authors of We Will Be Jaguars: A Memoir of My People. Nenquimo, an Indigenous leader of the Waorani Nation of Ecuador and TIME 100 honoree, and Anderson, co-founder of Amazon Frontlines, share their story of resistance, environmental justice, and cultural survival.

States blast feds' playbook of potential Colorado River options

Politicians, water negotiators and environmental groups recently submitted hundreds of pages of comments on the Interior Department’s playbook for how to manage the waterway. There are currently five possible options to deal with the river in the absence of a deal between the seven states in the basin.

Climate change could mean less water for Los Angeles, which currently gets the majority of its supply from Northern California and the Colorado River. But the city has plans to become more resilient—by making what’s old, new again.
