Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

March 15, 2026

Dear First name / friend,
Yesterday was the 70th Annual Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade—always one of the most fun days of the year here and the unofficial signal that winter is on its way out. The three feet of snow we got a few weeks ago have finally melted, the days are getting longer and sunnier, and spring is just about here (officially on Friday the 20th).

I know for many of you, warmer weather has already arrived, which is why I’ve made an extra effort this year to include more warm-weather pieces and looks in the Spring Style System. The beauty of the outfit prompts is that they’re really just formulas—without the math, thank you—which means you can easily swap in pieces that work for your weather and day, while keeping the prompt itself the same.

It’s a simple jumping-off point that I—and hundreds of you—use most days, no matter what’s on the calendar, to keep the #justgetdressed habit consistent and easy.

Here’s some fun shots from yesterday— a day full of community and a little harmless frivolity. Everyone is Irish on this day - hopefully you'll get to celebrate and wear your green too! ☘️

Now, let’s get to what went on at B.Styled this week…

  1. Bonus Basics Week Starts Tomorrow!

Tomorrow we kick off the Spring Style System with something new this year — Bonus Basics Week.

Before we jump into the full series of spring outfit prompts, we’re spending a few days strengthening the foundation of your wardrobe with simple outfit formulas built around strong basics.

The photo above is a good example.

Same base outfit: neutral pants + a white top.
Then I simply changed the layer — a blazer, denim jacket, and utility jacket.

Three easy outfits built from the same basics.

These outfits may look very simple — even a little boring — and that’s intentional.

A strong foundation of basics is what makes the more fun, personality pieces actually work.

We’ll spend this week focusing on the pieces that do the heavy lifting in your wardrobe — shoes, pants, simple tops, and versatile layers — before we move into the 21 Spring Outfit Prompts next week.

If you’ve been thinking about joining the Spring Style System, there’s still time to jump in before we get started.

2. A Quick Style Tip: The 3-Color Rule
Image item
One of the easiest ways to make a simple outfit feel more intentional and balanced is to include three colors or tones.

In this case the palette is:

Olive + Blush + Taupe/Cognac

The olive pants and blush top create the main color combination, and the accessories bring in the third tone.

On the left, the look works for cooler weather with a cardigan and boots.

On the right, the same basic outfit works for warmer days by skipping the cardigan and swapping in sandals.

Notice how the accessories help finish the outfit and bring in the third color — whether it’s taupe boots/belt/bag  or cognac pieces.

It’s a simple trick, but it’s one of the easiest ways to make an outfit feel intentional and pulled together.

These are the kinds of simple styling concepts we’ll be using throughout the Spring Style System to make putting outfits together easier.

New! Each week I’ll share one simple thing that makes getting dressed easier or helps you shop a little smarter.

Because style doesn’t come from buying more — it comes from choosing better pieces that work harder.

This week: Denim Blue Accessories

Why it’s useful:
If you want to add a little color to your outfits but don’t want anything too bold, denim blue accessories are an easy option. The color is soft and familiar, so it works almost like a neutral.

Denim blue pairs well with many of the colors we wear most in spring — white, navy, beige, gray, olive, and even black — so it’s a simple way to freshen up an outfit without overthinking it.

👉🏼 Style tip:
Try using denim blue in small accessories like flats, a belt, or a bag.

Even one piece can add a subtle pop of color, but pairing two together — like a denim blue belt and flats or a bag — can make the outfit feel a little more pulled together and cohesive.

👉🏼 Bonus tip:
Denim blue accessories look best when the rest of your outfit is fairly simple or neutral. Think white jeans, navy pants, denim, or khaki.

That way the color stands out just enough without competing with the rest of the outfit. 👍🏼

Do you have a Smart Find you love? Reply and tell me. I’m always looking for good ones.

That's it for today!
Have a great week ahead, and remember to #justgetdressed. ✅👍🏼
