This month, we are taking time to recognize the volunteers who help make Britepaths' services possible. Many of the programs the Britepaths community relies on, from the SNAP Gap Pantry to financial coaching, are supported by volunteers who give their time. In 2025, 630 individuals dedicated 5,440 hours of service, creating an impact valued at $297,641. You may see them stocking shelves, teaching workshops, or assisting behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. Their support helps us serve more families and offer programs that feel welcoming. We are grateful for the time and care our volunteers bring and for their support of our community.
VITA FREE TAX CLINIC
The last day to submit your taxes is April 15! If you or your family earned less than $69,000 in 2025, you may qualify for free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA provides no-cost tax-filing assistance from IRS-certified volunteers. Trained volunteers help make sure your tax return is completed accurately, that you receive the maximum refund you are eligible for, and that you are screened for valuable credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Britepaths also offers support. Our SNAP Gap Pantry provides items that SNAP does not cover, including household supplies, personal hygiene products, diapers, menstrual health items, and pet food. We also offer Financial Empowerment services and Workforce Development workshops to support your goals and next steps.
Britepaths offers cat and dog food through our SNAP Gap Pantry! If you are facing challenges buying pet food for your furry family member, you can pick up what you need by stopping by our office during regular business hours or by scheduling an appointment.
As tax season comes to a close, for those receiving a refund, it is a great chance to make a positive financial move.
Smart ways to use your refund:
Build or start an demergency fund
Pay down high-interest debt
Catch up on bills
Invest in yourself or save for a goal
At the same time, tax season is a common time for scams and fraud.
Stay protected:
The IRS won't call, text, or email you for payment
Be cautious of "too good to be true" refund offers
Only use official IRS tools to track your refund
Your refund is more than extra money; it's an opportunity. Use it wisely and protect it so it can truly make a difference.
