For this March RTD Round-Up—we share a project that perfectly captures why we love pushing the boundaries of what a workspace can be.

 

This particular building has been around for about twenty years, but our clients saw something more than just an office—they saw an opportunity to create a place where work and community could comfortably coexist. Their vision was simple in the best way: a refined yet relaxed environment where professionals could gather at the end of the week, connect with one another, swap ideas, and talk business without it feeling like…well, business. When your office includes a golf simulator and local beer on tap, the tone tends to shift in all the right ways.

 

At RTD, we’ve never believed offices need to follow the standard commercial playbook. You won’t find acoustical tile ceilings, rows of cubicles, or predictable commercial carpet in our vocabulary. Instead, we look for ways to create spaces that are professional and highly functional while still reflecting the personality of the company and the people behind it. The goal is always the same: design a place that people genuinely look forward to coming to every day.

 

And of course, great projects are always collaborative. We’re thrilled to be working alongside architect Forrest Brannam of FJ Collab and our Design Forward visionary client whose thoughtful approach has helped shape the bones of this space beautifully.

The above rendering and moodboard give you a peek into what the reception/entry area will soon look like. This project is a great reflection of our clients themselves. They have a deep appreciation for art, and we’re designing the office to double as a backdrop for pieces from their personal collection—turning everyday workspaces into moments of discovery and inspiration.

In the File Bar image above, you’ll notice that a lot of the millwork draws inspiration from vintage filing cabinets. It’s our little way of rethinking the expectations of a modern workspace—because if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that the world has enough ugly metal filing cabinets. Thoughtful materials, tailored details, and a bit of nostalgia go a long way.

All in all, this office is shaping up to be exactly what we hoped: polished but approachable, hardworking but fun, and a place where good ideas—and maybe a few friendly golf rivalries—can flourish.
