Part of the reason I wanted to write this newsletter, People > Content, is that I am curious about the ways we can learn about each other’s strengths so that we can lean into those strengths and make great things happen together.

When I was dreaming up this newsletter, one of the “clouds” in my dreams was the tech side of running an email newsletter. I knew I could figure it out, and I had no interest in figuring it out. 😅

I remember talking with one of my daughters about not wanting to learn the tech, and she said, “MOM! I built two websites for school projects this year. I LIKE doing this kind of stuff. I could do this!” Even though I knew she had done those projects, I didn’t know she liked doing that kind of work. I probably didn’t know because I don’t like that kind of work.

Fast forward, she is now my Digital Marketing Strategist (yes, I let her choose her job title 😉).

Collaboration gets better when a group becomes more aware of the strengths and preferences of the people that make up the group. Sometimes it's surprising to learn what someone really likes to do, because it might not be what you like to do, and maybe there haven’t been opportunities to say, “hey, I like to do this!”

A Next Step
This week, ask someone on your team or in your life two simple questions: "What kind of work energizes you?" and "What do you think you're really good at?" Write down what they say. One conversation might open up a kind of collaboration you didn't know was available to you.

Stay Curious!

P.S. Happy 22nd Birthday, Stella! 🎈I am so grateful for all that you do to make this newsletter possible! I would still be dreaming about it instead of creating it if it weren’t for you. Thank you for giving me the gift of learning more about your strengths! 💝
