MEET JUSTICE
Justice Elohim listened as CEO Holiday Zimmerman detailed the inspiring work being done at The Hub OC and knew he wanted to be involved. As a survivor of child abuse, Holiday’s words hit deeply.

“I thought how great it was to have a nonprofit that was helping people just like me,” Justice said. He wondered if his family might have benefited from a program such as The Hub OC all those years ago and wanted to help.

Trouble was, Justice wasn’t the volunteering type. God had other plans.

Through a leadership class at Chapman University, Justice was required to volunteer at a nonprofit and at first, he wanted to serve the patrons at The Hub Resource Center. But the timing wasn’t right and he decided to teach children’s art at Friends Church, a rewarding endeavor but balancing the kids, schoolwork and a full-time job made it difficult and he had to quit.

Months later, Justice returned to The HRC, where he discovered his passion for volunteering, which led to him staging a Leadership in Design Thinking workshop as part of his Capstone Project for his master’s.

“I have been able to understand the culture and how the leadership team at The Hub OC functions so I can better understand the flow of this organization,” Justice said. “Part of my research for my project is using design thinking to work on volunteer retention at The HUB.”

To understand what keeps volunteers coming back, Justice has created a quick survey that will help The Hub OC leadership team retain “and continue to build on the good foundation of serving those in our community,” Justice said.

If you have volunteered at The Hub, or volunteer on a regular basis, and would like to share your experience - use the button below to take the short survey Justice created.

And thank you in advance for your feedback!

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.

Image: Same Day Solutions Fair - March 2026.
More than a Godsend.
Life-changing.
Beyond 100% helpful.

The reviews of the second Same-Day Solutions Fair held at The Hub Resource Center reflected the relief of the more than 200 housed patrons who found answers to many of the obstacles that they face daily.

Joseph needed a driver’s license, help with filling out forms for his car registration and an EBT card. He was delighted to have accomplished all that in one place and got treats for his dog, Cali.

“What’s today, Monday? If I had tried to go get an EBT card today, there would have been hundreds of people waiting in line,” Joseph said of the typical process of applying at a local EBT office. “I got my EBT card in just minutes. They printed it out here,” he added.

The Same-Day Solutions Fair, held March 30, assisted people experiencing homelessness on their path to stability, connecting them to service providers all in one place. It is a wide-spread effort between The Hub OC, the County of Orange, the City of Orange and community. More than 20 service providers helped patrons with housing, food assistance, Cal-Optima Health, phone services, free haircuts, probation services and workforce solutions, among others.

Holly was able to get the paperwork started on obtaining her birth certificate and marriage certificate from the mobile OC Clerk-Recorder. “That really helps,” she said. “It’s what I needed.”

Teresa explained how the resource center treats patrons with respect and the Same-Day Solution Fair allows them to ask for help without judgement. “On the streets, it’s humbling to ask for help and no one is willing to help you.” she said. “Here, they are willing to help you without looking down at you.”

Maria and Gabriel came to the Same-Day Solutions Fair to seek information on shelters. Maria said her current place is unsuitable and hoped to find a better place for the two of them and headed to the OC Coordinated Entry System booth. "This is awesome," Maria said.

March was the official launch month of “Homeschooling Families Support.” This is a time to come alongside parents who have chosen the homeschooling route but need spaces of connection and support. Monday-Thursdays from 1-3pm we have invited homeschooling families to use the center as their own classroom style learning space. With the help of volunteers and Work Study students, we are excited to come alongside these amazing families!
