you need to know NOW

Hey First name / beautiful,

I absolutely have to share these 6 tips I gave a client during a recent haircut appointment because they're so important. Some of them may surprise you but they're fairly simple and straight forward. 🤗

  1. To tame flyaways, mist a light hold hairspray 👩‍🦳
Hairspray is highly underrated, especially light hold hairspray. Keep a mini travel size on hand to tame flyaways, frizzies, to keep your bangs in place, or to piece out the layers in your haircut.

I recently used it on a pixie cut and it looked fab! No need for fancy texture sprays; good ol' Elnett from the supermarket is a great option.

Mist it from afar and run your palm or the can against your hair. Or spray some on your fingers and pinch your bangs for a piece-y effect.

  2. Stop coconut oil. It's drying out your hair. 🥥
Oils in general have no scientific evidence that they work. Lots of my clients oil their hair, but to be honest it's usually the supplements they're taking that do the heavy lifting.

Clients who see real hair growth results are using medicated, science-backed products like Minoxidil or Aminexil.

Coconut oil doesn't only dry out your hair; it requires you to shampoo several times to remove the oil, leaving your hair dry and brittle.

  3. Gel shampoos can be drying. 🧴
Just like a gel face wash can dry out your skin, a gel consistency in a shampoo can strip color and toner much faster than it should. To hydrate your hair, use a shampoo with a white, milky consistency

  4. Condition your ends before your shampoo. 🫧
I've always been a fan of this trick when my ends felt brittle and dry. The conditioner will protect your ends from the drying effects of the shampoo, keeping the cleansing to the scalp only.

Bonus points if you have color treated hair! 🌈

  5. Don’t use oil / serum before blowdrying. ⚡️
This can fry your hair because oil + heat = sizzle! Unless the product specifically says it's a heat protectant and to use before heat styling, keep your serums and shine oils for the finishing touch of shine.

  6. It's not frizz, it's baby hairs!
When there are a lot of little hairs poking out of your scalp, you're probably thinking “My hair is so frizzy!”.

It's not frizz - it's baby hairs. AKA New Growth. 🙌

This is obviously a great problem to have. but, remember, using an anti frizz shampoo won't work to tame them. The baby hairs till stick out regardless, because the problem isn't the texture of your hair, but rather the direction in which the hair grows.

So, to tame the baby hairs, refer back to #1 (use hairspray)!!
