Saving the Venus Flytrap

I was excited to see this segment about the Venus Flytrap on CBS Sunday Morning. It explores the fascinating, carnivorous plant native to the Carolinas. Charles Darwin once called the Venus Flytrap “the most interesting plant in the world.” With habitat loss threatening its survival, the story is a reminder of why plant conservation matters.🪴

Inspiration Everywhere

I’m currently reading Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser. It is a retelling of Cinderella from the perspective of the so-called “wicked” stepmother. I’m not quite finished, so I can’t offer a full endorsement just yet. But kudos to the author for revisiting a familiar story from a completely different viewpoint. 🪄

 

Playful scale and unexpected materials took center stage during Milan Design Week. This interactive installation reimagined an antique carousel with oversized fruits and vegetables in place of traditional figures. 🍅

 

At first glance, these two black birds look nearly identical — but they’re not the same. Click here to learn how to spot the differences between these common corvids, from size and sound to subtle physical traits you might otherwise miss. 🐦‍⬛
