Tidal Resilience Foundation
The Monthly Ripple
March 2026

The SHoreline moment
This month, the shoreline wasn’t symbolic.
 it was real,
and it was shared.

March invited us to the edge of the Matanzas, where the tide, the wind, and the dolphins reminded us what resilience looks like in motion.

During Spring Break Resilience Week, we stood along the Matanzas River with our families, watching dolphins surface beside us every single day as if they were part of our pod. The wind and waves pushed us, but we pushed through together, paddling, laughing, learning, and finding strength in the rhythm of the tide.

We created art on the shoreline, shared meals under the sky, and watched kids play with a freedom and joy that felt like its own kind of healing. And on the final day of Resilience Week, we gathered once more along this same waterway for our first Spring Oyster Roast, surrounded by neighbors, volunteers, and supporters who showed up with generosity and heart.

March gave us real shoreline moments, moments of connection, courage, celebration, and community. The Matanzas held all of it, and we are carrying that feeling forward into everything that comes next.

Gratitude & Community Spotlight
Tidal Resilience Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who poured their time, energy, and support into this month’s programming. March was a month of shared moments on the water, on the shoreline, and within our community, and none of it would have been possible without the people who showed up with open hearts. We are especially grateful to Genung's Fish Camp, whose generosity and partnership made both Spring Break Resilience Week and our Spring Oyster Roast possible along the Matanzas River. Their willingness to open their space, their time, and their hearts created a home for connection, healing, and celebration. We also extend deep thanks to every family, volunteer, neighbor, and supporter who paddled with us, shared meals with us, donated supplies, or simply stood beside us this month. Your presence made March unforgettable.

This month, we are honored to spotlight Kelsey Hope in our Donor Spotlight. Kelsey is one of those rare individuals whose compassion and steadiness elevate every space she enters. A dedicated environmental engineer and a devoted mother, she brings both expertise and heart to everything she does. Kelsey has supported Tidal Resilience Foundation from the very beginning, offering encouragement, insight, and unwavering belief in our mission. Her generosity reflects the kind of human she is: thoughtful, intentional, and deeply committed to helping others thrive. We are profoundly grateful for her support as TRF continues to grow, and we are honored to celebrate her in this month’s spotlight.
DONOR SPOLIGHT: KELSEY HOPE
Q: What inspired you to support Tidal Resilience Foundation during its early days?
I supported Tidal Resilience during its early days because I believe in the people behind it. Karen’s passion, integrity, and clarity of purpose made it easy to see that this was an effort worth investing in.  The Tidal Resilience vision is compassionate, practical, and deeply needed. I wanted to help build something that could create real, lasting impact for grieving families.

Q: What part of Tidal Resilience Foundation's mission resonates most deeply with you?
The part of the Tidal Resilience’s mission that resonates most deeply with me is its commitment to creating meaningful, lasting influence on families that are navigating a season of loss. Tidal Resilience is investing in children and their families in ways that will help them through pain and give them tools to honor their grief while offering pathways that support their movement toward healing.

Q: When you think about resilience, what does it mean to you and your family?
To me, resilience means the ability to stay connected, steady, and hopeful even when life throws us off balance. It’s not about pretending everything is fine.  It’s about showing up for each other, holding space for trouble and grief while finding strength to move forward.

Q: What do you hope Tidal Resilience Foundation brings to families and youth in our community?
I hope Tidal Resilience becomes a place where grieving families and young people feel seen, supported, and never alone. I hope it offers guidance, mentorship, and safe spaces for youth to express what they’re carrying, so they can move forward with confidence rather than feeling defined by their grief. Tidal Resilience will hopefully become a community that can come together to lift one another up and help each person find their way toward healing.

Q: Is there anything you’d like others to know about why supporting this work matters?
I’d want people to know that supporting Tidal Resilience isn’t just about helping during a moment of crisis, it’s about investing in the long‑term wellbeing of families and young people who deserve stability, compassion, and hope. Grief can be isolating, and the resources Tidal Resilience provides can make the difference between someone feeling lost and someone feeling supported.

Thank you, Kelsey, for sharing your story and for supporting Tidal Resilience Foundation.

March Focus: What We Are Working On
March was a month of full hearts and full days. After weeks of planning and preparation, this was the moment when our work moved from paper to shoreline, from ideas to lived experiences. Spring Break Resilience Week brought families together on the Matanzas River for connection, courage, and joy, and our first Spring Oyster Roast wrapped the week in celebration and community support.

Throughout the month, we focused on creating meaningful spaces for families to breathe, play, and feel supported. We strengthened partnerships, welcomed new volunteers, and continued building the foundation for programs that will carry us into spring and summer. This included preparing for our April and May family meetups, expanding our Resilience Check‑Ins, and beginning the first designs for Resilience Mail, which will launch in April.

We also continued outreach for the Waves of Hope 5K in May and began early planning for summer programming, including Resilience Rides.

March reminded us that growth happens through steady, intentional steps, and this month was filled with them.

Spring Break Resilience Week brought four days of connection, courage, and community along the Matanzas River. Each afternoon, families gathered for our Strength Beneath the Waves curriculum, a gentle, ocean‑rooted approach to resilience that helped kids explore their inner strength through the stories and science of marine life.

Every day centered on a different ocean resilience theme. We learned from the Octopus, with its adaptability and problem‑solving. We looked to the Whale for lessons in communication and deep connection. We explored the steady determination of the Sea Turtle. And we closed the week with the playful presence of the Dolphin, a reminder of joy, teamwork, and trust.
Families kayaked together each day, paddling through wind, tide, and moments of calm. Dolphins surfaced beside us, the river shifted around us, and kids discovered new confidence with every stroke. Beyond the water, we shared time on the shoreline creating art, eating together, laughing, and watching kids play with a freedom that felt healing for everyone present.

Spring Break Resilience Week was more than a program. It was a shared experience of strength, community, and the simple power of being together on the water.

Our first Spring Oyster Roast was a beautiful celebration of community, generosity, and connection along the Matanzas River.

Families, neighbors, volunteers, and supporters gathered at Genung’s Fish Camp for an evening filled with good food, live music, and the kind of conversations that remind us why community matters.

The river gave us the perfect backdrop as everyone came together to enjoy oysters, raffles, and shared time in a space filled with warmth and gratitude. Kids played, adults connected, and the entire shoreline felt alive with laughter and support. The event also served as a meaningful close to Spring Break Resilience Week, bringing together the families we spent the week with and the broader community that continues to lift TRF as we grow.
The Spring Oyster Roast was more than a fundraiser. It was a reminder of how powerful it is when people show up for one another. We are deeply grateful to Genung’s Fish Camp for hosting us, to our volunteers for their time and heart, and to every person who attended, donated, or cheered us on.

This evening marked an important milestone for Tidal Resilience Foundation, and we are carrying that sense of community forward into everything ahead.

Thank you Images By Doc for capturing our special evening.

Growing Partnerships and Community Support

March was a month of deepening relationships and welcoming new partners into the TRF community. We are grateful to the businesses and individuals who supported Spring Break Resilience Week and the Spring Oyster Roast through donations, time, and heart. This includes Zaxby's, A Frame Sauce, artists Stewart Maxcy and Patty Scott, Aqua East, the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, Cocka Datil Doo Sauce, and the incredible team at Genung's Fish Camp.

The Marineland Right Whale Project deserves a special note of gratitude. Their presence, education, and commitment to protecting the North Atlantic Right Whale added depth and meaning to our events this month. Their work reminds us how closely resilience, conservation, and community are connected.

These partnerships helped create shared meals, raffles, art experiences, and moments of joy for families throughout the month. We are honored to welcome these supporters into the TRF family and look forward to growing alongside them

Honoring Our Theme of the Year: Emergence
Our theme for 2026 is Emergence, and March reflected it beautifully. This month was about stepping into what we have been building and watching our mission take shape through real experiences on the water and within our community. Emergence reminds us that growth unfolds through steady, intentional steps.
March was filled with meaningful movement, and we are carrying that momentum into the months ahead.

The Tide Report
A simple, honest snapshot of where things stand
This month, we are sharing a clear view of Tidal Resilience Foundation’s progress as we move from early planning into real, lived programming. March brought our first Spring Break Resilience Week and our first Spring Oyster Roast, and both experiences helped us understand more deeply what families need and how TRF can continue to grow with intention. These are the small wins, the steady steps, and the places where we are still emerging. Transparency builds trust, and we want our community to feel connected to every part of this journey.

 Money Raised So Far
Thanks to the Spring Oyster Roast, early 5K sponsorships, and individual contributions, Tidal Resilience Foundation has now raised nearly $4,000 since our December soft launch. This generosity continues to be the foundation that allows TRF to grow with intention and care as we expand programming and deepen community support.

Community Support and Donations
This month brought an incredible wave of generosity from local partners who helped make both Resilience Week and the Spring Oyster Roast possible. We are grateful to Zaxby's, A Frame Sauce, artists Stewart Maxcy and Patty Scott, Aqua East, the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, Cocka Datil Doo Sauce, and the team at Genung's Fish Camp. Their donations and support created shared meals, raffles, art experiences, and moments of celebration for families and community members.

Growing Partnerships
Our partnerships continue to expand as more local businesses join us in supporting youth and families navigating grief. We are honored to welcome new supporting sponsors and deeply grateful for the relationships that grew throughout March. These connections strengthen our programs and help us build a community rooted in compassion and resilience.

Where We're Growing Next
As we move into April, our focus is on expanding partnerships, preparing for the Waves of Hope 5K, and continuing to build out spring and summer programming. These next steps will deepen our impact and carry forward the momentum created throughout March.

The Next Wave
A gentle look at what’s coming into view
As Tidal Resilience Foundation moves into April, we are focusing on the pieces that are already taking shape. March brought real momentum through Spring Break Resilience Week, the Spring Oyster Roast, and growing community partnerships. The next wave is forming through steady steps, shared support, and the continued belief of the families and neighbors walking beside us.

Resilience Kits
We assembled and delivered 9 Resilience Kits in the month of February, and we are continuing to prepare kits for families throughout Northeast Florida. Each kit is a tangible expression of comfort, connection, and support for children navigating grief.

In 2026, our goal is to distribute 250 or more Resilience Kits to families in Northeast Florida and beyond. These kits will reach children through direct referrals, community partners, schools, counselors, and local organizations who walk alongside grieving youth every day.

You can help us reach this goal. Sponsor a Resilience Kit for $60 and place a kit directly into the hands of a child who needs it.

April and May Family Meetups
We are looking forward to two relaxed, family‑friendly gatherings at Mickler’s Landing this spring. These meetups offer simple, low pressure time together by the ocean, where kids can play and caregivers can connect. Details for both dates are included earlier in the newsletter.

Resilience Check Ins
Beginning in April, families can sign up for monthly Resilience Check Ins. These gentle touchpoints can be a beach walk, a kid‑only chat, a caregiver conversation, or a full family check in. They are designed to offer steady support between larger programs and to meet families exactly where they are.

Resilience Mail
Our monthly postcards for kids begin in April. Each one will feature an ocean animal and a simple resilience theme, offering encouragement, connection, and something special to look forward to in the mailbox.

Volunteer Opportunities
We continue to build a list of volunteers who want to support Tidal Resilience Foundation as we grow. If you feel called to help with events, family meetups, kit assembly, or future programming, we would love to connect. We are also hoping to form a small core team of individuals who can meet twice a month to help shape what TRF becomes in the community.
