March has been a BUSTLING month in the CFD studio! As we start to see the first signs of spring (yasss!), we always notice so much excitement and energy from our clients. Â It's a time of renewal and creativity, and we could not love it more.Â

CFD IN CHAPEL HILL MAGAZINE
Â
As most of you know, we're celebrating our 10th anniversary in business this year. Â Chapel Hill Magazine is also celebrating a huge milestone, with 20 years in print as of this year! Â We took this as an opportunity to collaborate with the amazing team at Chapel Hill Mag, and they quoted Cat in their March issue. She's talking about design themes we anticipate over the next few years, AND discussing the design features that stand the test of time- namely, your own unique home items that tell the story of you. Â We also loved seeing an image from one of our favorite projects included. Thank you to Chapel Hill Mag for including us in this GORGEOUS issue! You can check out the story online below.Â
Let's catch up on what's happening over at Dogwood, the historic charmer in central Chapel Hill that we're renovating. Â If you're new to Dogwood (we'd love to have you on this journey with us!), you can find a great introduction to this home on the blog, and also on our insta here! Currently, we are navigating the engineering phase. It's not a super thrilling time, but is a critical part of the early reno process. Diligent planning + communication is our version of the yellow brick road, and we leave no stone unturned in the planning phase to ensure the rest of the process goes as smoothly as possible. Â The current discussion is about the basement, and whether to create a laundry area here or try to fit it into the upper floors (you can see Cat and Chad above, brainstorming on-site). Â These are common things to tackle when renovating a 100+year old home, and taking time on the front end to help our clients make the most informed decision possible on what will work best for them is the priority. Â This is one of the (many) ways we advocate for and protect our client's needs, budget, and goals throughout a large-scale renovation and design. Â
Over on the blog, we've posted a video tour and lots of details about the second floor. Â You can see it at the link below!
Below, you can also see a video of Cat discussing her partnership with Accredited Master Builder Chad Collins, and their joint venture in creating their own construction company, 2x4 Custom Homes.Â
When spring is arriving and all the glorious greenery starts emerging, this project comes straight to mind. It's one of our favorite designs focused on bringing the outdoors in. Â A mid-century modern house located in Chapel Hill, this home boasts some of the most gorgeous architecture, incredible windows and SO much natural light. Â The goal was to keep the design light while also feeling warm and organic, with a contemporary feel. Â The scope included full kitchen and primary bath renovations, as well as custom built-ins and plush furnishings throughout. Â Tranquil, comfortable, sleek, and nature-inspired, this home (and these adorable doodles) brought us so much joy. Â Look out for the full story on the blog coming soon. Tap the image above to see it on the portfolio now!Â
Yes y'all, it is almost that time! At the end of this month we will venture to the High Point Furniture Market, the international mecca of the design world. Our most important job during market is serving as an ambassador for our clients by sourcing high-quality furnishings, and fostering our relationships with North Carolina furniture and fabric makers. Â Carefully vetting industry-only vendors to find the highest level of craftsmanship and durability is one of the important ways we provide our clients with the deepest value and return on investment in their home design. Â It's also how we are able to create custom items that are both unique and perfectly fitted for our client's spaces. If you're curious, we've posted about the history of the event here. Â You can also see a recap of the last Fall Market below.
From all of us here on the team, thank you for being part of our journey. Â See you soon, friends <3
