SNOW HARVEST, BBQ PARTY AND FREE SKIING |
|
Dear @FirstName/Passholder, Let’s be honest, cross-country skiing is a bit of a complex sport, and that’s exactly why we love it. The big changes in weather, the little changes in technique, the wax, the ski camber, the quality and type of snow, the grooming, it all matters. As the season winds down, we’re excited to share a few fun things still ahead, and a look at what’s coming next. Part of that is new technology to store snow, because one thing is for sure: we cannot take it for granted. See you on the trails, The Team at Whistler Olympic Park |

EXCITING NEWS: WE'VE RECEIVED OUR NEW SNOW BLANKET
Since 2014, Whistler Olympic Park has been storing Callaghan Gold snow over the summer under cedar mulch and wood products. This year, we’re excited to add a new Snow Secure blanket, an innovative and sustainable snow storage solution that helps support a more resilient future for winter sports. The blanket will cover a snow pile near the cross-country stadium and, we hope, help connect the biathlon stadium to the day lodge early in the season, creating more terrain for athletes and recreational skiers to enjoy. |
|
HOW DOES SNOW FARMING WORK? - Snow is collected in big snow piles in each spring.
- Snow piles are covered with the Snow Secure insulation system.
- In autumn, the insulation is removed and the snow can be spread onto the trails.
