It’s been a full and eventful week in the building, with a lot of meaningful progress and a few unexpected moments along the way. Here’s a look at what’s been happening and what’s ahead:
Work Day This Saturday, March 28th, 9am–1pm
We’d love for you to join us this Saturday as we continue preparing the building together. There are a variety of projects to jump into:
Demo and clearing out the shed next to the sanctuary (a requirement for the subdivision process)
Carrying and loading debris from the sanctuary into the dumpster
Moving pews to allow access for upcoming lighting work
General landscaping cleanup, including flower beds and yard work (and even dreaming a bit about what these spaces could become)
An initial pass at cleaning the sanctuary floor to help us plan for future work
A reminder: Parents we love our kids coming to serve on these workdays. And please note that we consider the interior of both building right now to be active construction areas. For their safety, kids should not be left unattended indoors at any time. Thank you!
Whether you can stay the whole time or just come for part of the morning, your help truly makes a difference!
Additional upcoming work days: April 11th | 9am–1pm April 25th | 9am–1pm
What’s Been Happening
Work in the Fellowship Hall continues to move forward. This week, electricians began replacing electrical panels and running new wiring and outlets throughout the space.
As with any project like this, there are always a few surprises! On Thursday, we discovered a blockage in the main sewer line in the classroom building—currently home to our only bathrooms. After some initial attempts to clear it, it became clear there was a larger issue. Shanahan and Luff Construction began work early Monday, uncovering a collapsed clay trap and a large root blockage. After clearing the roots, replacing the trap, and installing new PVC piping, the line was fully repaired. We’re incredibly thankful this was resolved so quickly!
Delran is set to begin putting the top on the new stage this week—an exciting step forward as the sanctuary continues to take shape.
Kim Clement has organized a weekday painting crew that began work this past Tuesday. They made great progress right out of the gate, focusing on sanding, cleaning, and priming walls, doors, and windows.
We appeared before the Zoning Board of Springfield Township on Monday regarding our variance for the subdivision of the house. Our lawyer, Kellie, and engineer, Harry, did an outstanding job presenting the case, and we’re grateful to share that the variance was approved. We now move into the next phase of the process, which includes submission to the Planning Commission and, if approved, final consideration by the Township Commissioners. A special thank you to Dale Leonard for faithfully guiding us through this process and continuing to lead us through what’s ahead!
Delran has submitted all permit drawings and associated paperwork and expects approval later this week. Once permits are in place, the pace of work will increase significantly, allowing finish work to begin. Please join us in praying for favor as these permits are finalized.
Prayer Requests
As we head into this weekend, we invite you to be praying with us—for safety and unity during the work day, for continued wisdom in decision-making, and for God’s provision in every detail. We’re especially praying for favor as permits are finalized and for continued momentum in the weeks ahead.
We’re grateful to be walking through this season together and to see God at work in both the big breakthroughs and the everyday progress.
With gratitude, Bridge Community Church
