SNVM CLINICS
Image item
Since April 2025, we have successfully spayed, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped 955 companion pets from South Texas at a low cost!

This has prevented thousands of unwanted litters from being born. With over 100 people applying for appointments at each clinic, it’s clear there is a significant need for more SNVM clinics.

We would like to thank Donna North High School for hosting us and their students for assisting at the clinic. Thank you to our veterinarians and techs for safely conducting the surgeries, and our generous sponsors and donors for making each clinic possible!

If you would like to sponsor or donate to our next clinic, please visit our clinic campaign link or email Rebecca Arizmendi-Chavez at Development@yaquianimalrescue.com.

We encourage you to stay connected with us on social media for the latest announcements about clinics, events, and ways to get involved.

TRANSPORTS

This year, we were fortunate to partner with Pawsitively Furever Rescue in Ontario, Canada. Through this partnership, we’re able to transport healthy, adoptable pets from South Texas to Canada, where they have a greater chance of finding safe, loving homes.
In fact, many of our dogs go directly into approved homes due to high adoption demand and waitlists in the area.

A LOOK BACK
Over a year ago, we rescued Dillion from a local dump site. She was sick and had advanced heartworm disease, and the veterinarians told us she only had a few months to live. We found her a hospice foster home, but remarkably, Dillion has been doing very well and is still alive. She has now been formally adopted by her foster mom.

Watch her feature video on Cuddle Buddies YouTube channel to learn more about Dillion's journey!

ADOPTIONS
Archie is
adopted!
Amanda & Cody from McAllen, Texas, found Archie wandering around their neighborhood. He was HW+, but we agreed to cover his treatment if they could foster him.

They agreed to foster him, and he eventually found a home
in St. Paul, MN.

Here's Archie enjoying his road trip across the country after finding his new home!

If you can foster, you play a vital role in helping pets find loving homes. Learn more about fostering here

COMMUNITY LEGACY PARTNER
Image item
We are deeply honored that Yaqui Animal Rescue was recognized as a Community Legacy Partner recipient at Donna ISD, an award that celebrates partnerships creating real-world educational and career opportunities for students.

Through the Veterinary Animal Science program, led by CTE Lead Teacher and Yaqui Animal Rescue Board Member Amanda Cedillo, students are gaining hands-on experience while making a meaningful impact in our community. This program has transformed what’s possible, not just for Donna ISD, but for the entire Rio Grande Valley.

At a time when stray animal overpopulation is at an all-time high and resources remain limited; this collaboration is making a real difference. Thanks to Hidalgo County Commissioner David Fuentes, Donna ISD, and every supporter who believes in this mission, we have been able to provide essential services at a significantly reduced cost, helping animals while empowering the next generation.

We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and proud to stand alongside partners who are committed to creating opportunity, compassion, and change. The future is bright, and we cannot wait to see where this journey leads.

Dear Yaqui Supporter:

Because of you, we are continuing to make meaningful progress for animals across the Rio Grande Valley. Here’s a look at the impact we’ve made together and what lies ahead:

Through our low-cost spay, neuter, vaccination, and microchipping clinics in partnership with Donna North High School, we’ve served 955 animals.
Each clinic represents not just immediate care, but long-term impact—preventing future litters and reducing the number of animals entering shelters.

Yaqui Animal Rescue is proud to be part of the Hidalgo County Judge’s Office Pet Advocacy Coalition, a collaborative effort that began meeting monthly in November 2025. This coalition brings together local animal welfare organizations and key stakeholders committed to addressing the long-standing challenges facing animals across Hidalgo County and the Rio Grande Valley.

Together, we are working toward meaningful, lasting change by focusing on critical priorities such as expanding access to spay-and-neuter services, promoting humane education, strengthening law-enforcement training, advancing legislative policy, and supporting research and development.

We believe our advocacy for legislative reform in Austin, our innovative partnership with Donna North High School to increase spay-and-neuter accessibility, and our efforts to engage local elected officials helped lay the groundwork for this coalition’s creation. We also recognize that this progress would not have been possible without the countless volunteers and advocates who have supported Yaqui for years. Your voices helped ensure our elected officials understood that this issue could no longer be ignored.

We cannot shelter or rescue our way out of this crisis. Real, lasting change requires proactive solutions that reduce intake at the source, lessen the burden on taxpayers, and protect public health. Much work remains, and progress will take time. But this coalition represents a powerful first step in the right direction for the animals and communities we serve.

Our rescue efforts continue daily. Recently, multiple dogs have been transported out of Texas to areas with higher adoption demand, such as Canada, giving them a second chance at finding loving homes. In the past month alone, several dogs successfully made their way to new families through these lifesaving transports.

Locally, we continue to rely on fosters and adopters who open their homes to animals in need. Whether short-term fostering or permanent adoption, every placement directly saves lives and creates space for the next rescue.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Valentine’s 5K fundraiser. This event brought together supporters, runners, and animal lovers from across the community. Your participation helped raise critical funds that directly support our rescue operations and clinic programs.

We continue to host clinics, adoption opportunities, and community initiatives throughout the year. Our annual Tails of Hope Gala will return later this year as one of our largest fundraising events
.
We’re currently running very low on pet food, and our community has stepped up in a big way. With the help of our partners, we are hosting an Easter Pet Food Drive from March 20, 2026, through April 6, 2026, to support the animals in our care. As a thank you, everyone who donates an item will be entered into a contest to win an Easter gift basket (3 winners). Donate via amazon here.
