March 30th is World Bipolar Day

World Bipolar Day is a global celebration to highlight the strengths, resilience and successes of people living with bipolar disorder while urging the world to eliminate stigma and discrimination. Its core vision is to raise worldwide awareness, educate the public and improve sensitivity toward the condition by sharing the latest research and best treatments. World Bipolar Day is celebrated each year on March 30th, the birthday of Vincent Van Gogh, who was posthumously diagnosed as probably having a bipolar condition.

8th annual World Bipolar Day “Ask Me Anything”

CREST.BD will host its free 8th annual World Bipolar Day AMA starting at 1pm EST on Reddit. During the event, a diverse team of researchers, clinicians, individuals with lived experience of bipolar disorder, and family members—including founder of The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research, Deborah Ann Smith—will be coming together to answer questions about aspects of bipolar disorder. PolarUs: An App to Support Quality of Life

PolarUs is a mobile application that puts bipolar disorder research into the hands of the people who need it most. At the heart of the PolarUs app is evidence-backed and globally-recognized Quality of Life in Bipolar Disorder scale, which helps people with bipolar disorder to measure and monitor their quality of life. It also empowers people to identify and apply evidence-based self-management strategies, with the goal of guiding them towards health and quality of life.

 

PolarUs is developed by CREST.BD, The Collaborative RESearch Team to study psychosocial issues in Bipolar Disorder who are dedicated to working in tandem with people who live with bipolar disorder.

Grant Recipient Nuçi's Space

In 2023, the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research proudly awarded a grant to Nuçi’s Space which enabled them to expand programs that provide mental‑health resources, peer support, and outreach specifically tailored to musicians. By partnering with organizations that share our vision, we aim to create a network of care that respects the unique pressures of a creative life. Included is the dedication page in their annual report. The Sean Costello Memorial Fund record is featured on their Donor Recognition Wall at 396 Oconee Street in Athens, Georgia.
